Fitting its usual cadence, theEpic Games Storehas replaced its previous offeringRecipe for DisasterwithWarpips, and it has announced what will replaceWarpipson February 23:Duskers.Warpipswill be available on Epic Games Storeto claim until 10 am CT on February 23, at which point the titles will roll over.
Warpipsis an indie action strategy game that describes itself as ifCommand and ConquerandNexus Warshad a baby. It involves physics-based combat, players assembling an army, and deploying troops, airstrikes, and missiles in combat. It further promises fast streamlined combat, deep strategy, randomized battles, and no pay-to-win elements or microtransactions.

Of course, ifWarpipsdoesn’t scratch someone’s particular itch, fans may be more interested in the next addition to theEpic Games Store. Duskers sees players command drones as they fly around derelict spaceships, trying to survive some odd catastrophe and understand how everything became a giant graveyard through ship logs. It’s been praised for its general Alien vibes, as well as its approach to the Sci-Fi genre. Players must use motion sensors to know something is out there, but not what, with each ship being procedurally generated. Hazards include the potential monstrosities awaiting players on the derelict ships, fuel management, or the parts of the drones going awry.
Duskersmay be right up Sci-Fi lovers' alley. On OpenCritic, the game has an 84 Top Critic Average, a 100% recommendation rate from critics, and has been ranked as Mighty. Itsexperimental Sci-Fi natureis definitely something nice to see, and it breaks from the standard setup of a lot of games. That alone may make it worth checking out, but just likeWarpips, those who aren’t interested can wait to see what follows it too.
Next week’s free game will technically be the last for February on the Epic Games Store, as it’ll roll right into March. It’s hard to say what it’ll add next month, but perhaps one of the Epic Games Store’s biggest strengths is its emphasis on fun, indie games. That’s not to say Epic Games Store doesn’t add AAA games, but given the number of high-profile releases that overwhelm added indies onservices like PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass, it’s nice to see some more niche titles get a focus.
Epic Games Storeusers get a handful of free games every month.
