It has been announced thatElden Ringwill be receiving its own board game.Elden Ringis the latest action-RPG created by famed developer FromSoftware, which is known for theDark Soulstrilogy,Bloodborne, andSekiro: Shadows Die Twice.Elden Ringbuilds on the foundation set by those titles through its boss fights, worldbuilding, and open world, which marks a first for the developer. SinceElden Ring’srelease, the game has proven to be a huge success, earning both great reviews and record-breaking sales for FromSoftware.As of the end of June,Elden Ringhad sold over 16 million copies worldwide, making it an incredible success for FromSoftware. Now, many fans are waiting to see how that success will be built upon, with the main expectation being that FromSoftware will release DLC content forElden Ringin order to create new sales and give players who’ve completed the game a reason to return. With up to four players, theElden Ringboard game contains dice-free combat that lets the Tarnished tackle some challenging boss fights as they would in the game. With some bosses such as Margit the Fell Omen and Malenia, Blade of Miquella having reputations for being incredibly tough enemies, the board game has to meet the challenges players would expect with them.
There will be an element of progression similar to that found inElden Ring, with the players being able to tackle the Soldier of Godrick and work their way up to fightingRadagon of the Golden Order inElden Ring. While Steamforged’s experience with theDark Soulsboard game has prepared it for work onElden Ring’sbosses, the game’s open world marks new territory for the developer and was one of Steamforged’s focal points while designing of the board game, according to Lead Designer Sherwin Matthews.
Currently, there isn’t a release date for theElden Ringboard game, but it will be appearing on Kickstarter at some point in the near future. Fans are hoping thatElden Ring’sboard game will turn out better than the recently releasedDark Soulstabletop RPG, which was met with poor reviews following its launch after players found multiple issues with the game’s rulebook, including some basic grammatical errors.
