At the start ofDragon’s Dogma 2, players will be able to choose between severalVocations, which function similarly to the way classes function in typical action-RPGs. Each Vocation features several key elements that will fundamentally alter howDragon’s Dogma 2plays. The process of finding, unlocking, and mastering each Vocation is one of the game’s great joys.
Currently, there are 10 known Vocations inDragon’s Dogma 2.While several are available at the start of the game, many more become available as players explore the world. This is truly a case where curiosity is rewarded, as many of the most interesting Vocations give little to no indication that they even exist, let alone where they can be found. This guide will point players in the right direction, showing them exactly when and where each Vocation can be found.
This guide is a work in progress. While all vocations have been revealed by Capcom, we do not yet know how to unlock them all. As these discoveries are made, they will be added to this guide as quickly as possible.
All Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma 2features ten Vocations. When players first begin their playthrough, they will be greeted witha robust Character Creation systemthat allows them to pick from the four available Vocations, which are as follows:
These four vocations constitute the base-level classes that are available at start, the rest must be unlocked. There are six unlockable vocations, which are:
How to Unlock the Warrior and Sorcerer Vocations
The Warrior and Sorcerer vocations are unlockable through a single mission called ‘Vocation Frustration.’ This mission can be initiated as soon as players reach Vernworth, the capital of Vermund. To begin this mission, head to the local guild hall, and speak to the attendant on duty. He will explain to the player that they do not have the weapons to offer the Warrior and Sorcerer vocations, due to the fact that a shipment to the local armorer was stolen. Speaking to the armorer leads to the proposal that the player head out and find the weapons required to unlock the vocations themselves.
Once the player accepts, they will have to head west to the Trevo Mine. Players must make their way through the cave system to find two specific weapons:
These are found in two of the nicer-looking treasure chests, and while there are some in Trevo Mine that are more hidden, these two chests are essentially out in the open. They are very hard to miss if players explore the mine thoroughly.
Once players have both weapons, they will want to return to the guild. The attendant will not accept both weapons at once, so make sure to complete the process twice. After completing this, players will be able to unlock both the Warrior and Sorcererthrough the ‘Change Vocations’ menu option. Remember that players must have the necessary DCP to unlock a vocation before it can be switched to.
If, for some reason, players accidentally lose or sell one or both of the required weapons, head to the Scrap Shop in the Checkpoint Rest Town. This small shop offers a ‘Special Finds’menu option that features lost quest items. While they are expensive, this is currently the only known way to retrieve lost items.
If players miss ‘Vocation Frustration,’ it is possible that bringing an unrelated greatsword or archistaff that was found while exploring will unlock these vocations, though this method is not yet confirmed.
How to Unlock the Mystic Spearhand Vocation
TheMystic Spearhand Vocationcan be unlocked in three different ways. As they each occur at different times during the game, players should not worry if they miss the first opportunity. The three opportunities are:
How to Unlock the Trickster Vocation
The Trickster Vocation is unlocked by visiting the Revered Shrine in Battahl. This location is relatively easy to find, though it is in an area that is filled with significant danger. Players will want to make sure they are fully prepared to fight when they head out to complete this task.
The shrine itself is not far from Checkpoint Rest Town. However, players will need to possess theBorder Entry Permitto enter Battahl through the gate located here. The permit is acquired by allowing Captain Brant to interrogate the prisoner during’The Arisen’s Shadow.‘Bradnt will give it to the player once his series of quests has been completed. Once the player has entered the shrine, speak to Luz and go through all options to unlock the Trickster. It is the easiest vocation to unlock in terms of process, it’s simply a matter of waiting until Battahl is accessible.
How to Unlock the Magick Archer Vocation
TheMagick Archer Vocationwill likely be the last of the major vocations that players will unlock. This is largely due to its location onVolcanic Island, which will be nearly impossible to access until late in the game. Once players have made it down through Battahl, and gone through Drabnir’s Grotto, follow these steps to unlock the Magick Archer vocation:
How to Unlock the Warfarer Vocation
TheWarfarer Vocationis likely the easiest of all vocations to miss, and if players are not careful, they can lock themselves out completely. This vocation is unlocked by a drunken warrior named Lamond, found at the Volcanic Island Base Camp. Players will need the following items to unlock the Warfarer Vocation:
Players will automatically get access to Battahl through the main quest, once Captain Brant completes his interrogation of the agent from Battahl that players apprehend in ‘The Arisen’s Shadow.’ If players wish to reach Battahl early, they will have to sneak around the gate at Checkpoint Rest Town, either through the mountain pass, or through the ornate oxcart that passes through. This oxcart is likely the easiest way to get through the gate early, but there is no set schedule.
Players will find Lamond on the Volcanic Island. He is found outside the same hot springs that players will take Gautstafr to during the quest to unlock the Magick Archer vocation. Lamond will initiate a quest called ‘The Scotted Sage,‘in which he asks the player to bring him several items. This will require the player to bring him bottles ofNewt Liquer.Players can find one bottle at Gautdtafr’s cabin, and can purchase the other two from Higg’s Tavern Stand in Bakbattahl. They will cost players 5,000 gold each. Lamond will require three bottles of Newt Liquer. Once the mission is complete, Lamond will unlock the vocation. Players will simply need to return to a guild hall to make it active. This will allow players to have access too all skills, weapons, and armor. Unfortunately, players will not have access to each vocation’s Maister’s teachings, but everything else is available.
