Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotfans are eager for DLC 2, hoping that it may provide the game with some much needed longevity, but many are unclear as to when it may actually arrive. To be plain, there is noofficial release date forKakarot’s second DLCyet, but speculation affords some insight as to when it is most likely to arrive. With that in mind, readers should understand that this is just that, speculation, and Bandai Namco could come out of left field at any time with an actual announcement about the game’s second and penultimate DLC offering.
For those unaware,Dragon Ball Z: KakarotDLC 1 released on April 28th, more than three months after the game’s initial release in January. With it came a new transformation in the form of Super Saiyan God for both Goku and Vegeta, training regimens with Whis which allowed players to level up at a drastically increased rate, and an intense boss fight with none other than Beerus the Destroyer. Despite this, most fans were felt it lacked any real end game content aside from Beerus and could be completed in just a few hours of playing.

What Do We Know About DBZ: Kakarot DLC 2?
Surprisingly, the answer is “not much.” Neither Bandai Namco nor CyberConnect2 have made any real announcements about its content or release date, and aleak found by DMGaminghas cast who the boss will actually be even further into question. What is known is that the second DLC will be a boss battle episode similar to the first one, and will probably be structured in a similar manner as well. This means fans can expect to see a new transformation (Super Saiyan Blue), more training with Whis, and a new boss fight, which will probably be either Golden Frieza or Hit.
Who the boss will be and when they will be available to fight is still unknown, but new information may be coming soon. Dragon Ball Hype, a credibleDragon Ballreporter has said thatV Jump leaks will be coming between the 15th and the 18th of June, and it is possible that information regarding DLC 2 will make an appearance on those pages. Unfortunately, at the moment this is the only glimmer of hope fans have regarding a believable leak on the release date.
What We Can Learn From DBZ: Kakarot DLC 1
As is often the case, the key to the future lies in the past, and therelease schedule ofDragon Ball Z: KakarotDLC 1could provide some insight. The game’s first DLC released three months after the full game, so that is definitely a good place to start. Three months after the April release would put DLC 2 coming sometime in July, which seems likely given that no announcements have been made for a June release. It’s would be odd for Bandai Namco to keep fans waiting any longer than this since it has already set the precedent for its DLC release schedule.
Bandai Namco didn’t actually officially announce a release date for the first DLC until April 21st, just one week before the content would actually come out. This means that it isn’t too surprising that no release date has been shared, and also that the DLC is definitely more than a week away. Though an image of thetree from Beerus' homeworldwas shared by the publisher on February 21st, the first official announcement regarding the DLC wasn’t shared until March 23rd, about a month before the actual release. If this pattern holds up, it will likely be the end of July when the second DLC releases. If this is the case, fans can expect to hear an announcement in the coming weeks (before the end of June), and get a release date of late July.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 3
Astute fans may be noticing a pattern in the release schedule by now. If there is in fact going to be a three month gap between each DLC, then fans can expectKakarot’s story arc DLCto release in October of 2020, endingDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s first year on the market. At the moment, there is no saying whether or not the franchise will produce a new season pass, with quarterly DLC additions or simply move on to a sequel, but either option seems likely. Unfortunately, this theory won’t be confirmed until the actual release date for the second DLC is revealed.
DBZ: Kakarot Post Launch Support
All of this highlights the issues that fans have taken with the post-launch support ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Upon the release of the game, fan response was generally overwhelmingly positive. The way that CyberConnect2 and Bandai Namco were able to faithfully recreate the beloved story ofDragon Ball Zin a new and innovative way struck a chord with many fans, but what followed was less than satisfying. It quickly became apparent thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarothad almost no endgame to speak of, and the first DLC coming a whole three months later and adding only a few hours of content made fans realize how little room for growth there was. Perhaps in years prior this sort of support would have been accepted, applauded even, but in this day and agepeople expect more from game developers.
Some even wantedDragon Ball Z: Kakarotto reveal a DLC roadmap similar toBorderlands 3, a game which has gone above and beyond in terms of post launch support. Nearly every month since its release last September, new content has been added to the game in the form of events, a takedown, or full story DLCs with tons of gameplay. When compared toDragon Ball Z: Kakarotand its quarterly DLC release schedule which offers minimal content, it’s understandable why some fans might be less than pleased.
