Summary

Walt Disney World Resorthas shared a full POV for its newest ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. In June 2020,Disneyannounced it would be shutting down its Splash Mountain ride to remodel it after 2009’sThe Princess and the Frog. The original concept art for the attraction debuted at D23 Expo in September 2022 and Disney shared a sneak peek of the Princess Tiana animatronic earlier this year.

As Disney states, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure continues the story after the events of the movie, which would explain the lack of Dr. Facilier and the lovable firefly Ray. Instead, the ride features Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis the alligator, Mama Odie, Eudora, Princess Charlotte, and Naveen’s younger brother Prince Ralphie, among others. Set after Princess Tiana andher husband Prince Naveenare turned into frogs by a spell, the ride sees Tiana and Louis preparing for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Replaces the Decommissioned Splash Mountain Ride

In the POV video, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes guests first through an outer forest landscape, then the log enters a climb into the bayou structure itself. After ducking into a cave, the rider meets Louis, the life-likePrincess Tianadressed as a safari guide, and all the forest critters playing makeshift instruments. After meeting the dancing fireflies, Mama Odie and her pet snake Juju prepare the rider for the steep drop that gave Splash Mountain its name all those years ago. In the final scene, Tiana, Naveen, Louis, and Ralphie, as well as their animal friends, perform at a Mardi Gras celebration on a well-lit patio as the members of New Orleans' upper-class look on.

Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, Michael-Leon Wooley, and Jenifer Lewisall reprise their rolesas Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis, and Mama Odie, respectively. As reported byPeople, in order to replicate the atmosphere of New Orleans accurately, the Imagineering team took several trips to Louisiana to experience the nightlife, attend a Mardi Gras celebration firsthand, and conduct elaborate research.
