Updated by Jeremy Brown on June 04, 2025:Disney Speedstorm is presented as an answer to Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing. While featuring some of the most popular characters in the Disney canon, some minor characters also finally get a spotlight in a Disney video game. Some characters are great for beginners, while others will take longer to master. Still, these racers from four different specialized categories really help Disney and gaming fans get into the racing spirit. This list has been updated to include a few more ofDisney Speedstorm’s best characters.
15Figment
The mascot of EPCOT, Figment is the only racer representing the Disney theme parks in the game. He only has a single rare crew member, SMRT-1. This crew helps with both top speed and handling. However, Figment has a unique skill calledSpark of Imagination.
His unique and useful skill blocks the vision of any racers it hits and can be used either with a blast radius or a charge trail. Plus, Figment gets faster with every enemy racer he manages to blind.
14Randall
Randall is a balanced racer with a decent stat mix but nothing spectacular. But, since Randall representsMonsters Inc., he has access to some of the best crew chips in the game. Randall is highly versatile and can mix three out of four rare chips.
Randall begins with a spruced-up bomb, but it’s hisScream Collectorunique skill that really makes him successful. Randal can become invisible in normal mode and teleport when fully charged. Plus, if Randal earns five scream stocks, he can obscure the sight of anyone near him.
13Mowgli
Disney Speedstormis one of the few games to work with the characters fromThe Jungle Book. This includes characters and remixes of songs from the film, as well as themed tracks. While the majority ofThe Jungle Bookcharacters in the game are crew members, Mowgli is one of the few playable racers.
Designated as a Speedster, Mowgli is a good racer whoseOne of the Packskill lets him use the wolves. Mowgli is able to use the wolves to stun his fellow racers, and they help him drive forward.
12Celia Mae
TheMonsters, Inc.franchise is well represented inDisney Speedstorm, and that includes Mike Wazowski’s girlfriend, Celia Mae. She provides a sense of variety for the game compared to other Disney games that focus on some of the more obvious characters from the company. She could’ve easily been a crew member, but is an important racer.
Celia has a Snake andSnake special skillthat boosts her ability as a Defender. In normal form, the Snake special skill makes Celia happy and generates some nitro fuel. But if it’s charged, Celia becomes angry, and it allows her to slow down anyone who gets too close.
11Goofy
While Goofy is often a silly character, and with a name like Goofy, he should be,theDisneySpeedstormversion of Goofy is also a fierce competitor. While he is a natural fit in the Defender class due to his defensive precautions, he’s still capable of launching some pretty impressive offense.
Opponents should watch out for his unique skill calledBarnstormergrants him a short speed boost. It also stuns any racers nearby, causing quite an issue when he uses it against them. Plus, Goofy’s charged version drops a fuel canister behind his kart, which provides extra speed and destruction. Goofy is a formidable foe who can keep up with the fastest racers.
10Sully
The top scarer of Monsters Incorporated is a terrifying opponent on the tarmac. James P. Sullivan has a scary amount of speed behind the wheel. One of the beloved main characters of the Disney Pixar classicMonsters Inc., Sully boaststhe highest top speed in the game.
Sully’s top speed comes at the expense of many other attributes, in particular, the car’s handling, so players will benefit from exercising caution when approaching corners. In open space and along long stretches of road, no one will outpace the big blue guy.
9Li Shang
The strong leader within the Chinese military shows he has as firm a command on the racetrack as he does on the battlefield. Wielding a reasonable balance across all stats to reflect his no-nonsense personality, Li Shang combinesprowess in top speed, acceleration, and combat to form a solid choice for all race types.
One of the central characters of the Disney classicMulan,Li Shang, has one of the lower handling ratings in the game. Players should be weary of approaching corners at speed with the army general.
8Megara
Demonstrating a god-like level of skill as a race car driver, Hercules' own Megara proves that there is more to the former servant of Hades than meets the eye. The independent, quick-witted female lead in the Greek-inspired film is not like other Disney female personalities of her time, and this shows in her fearless approach to her racing.
Meg’s strengths lie in her acceleration, boost, and handling, making her one of the more agile and maneuverable racers inDisney Speedstorm. Given how comfortable she is on a corner, Meg will be a prime candidate for any racing challenge.
7Mike Wazowski
Proving that size doesn’t matter on the racetrack, the little green cyclops fromMonsters Inc.shows an uncanny prowess in the art of handling a race car. Equipped with the best acceleration and one of the highest handling ratings in the game, Mike Wazowski will more often than not be the first out of the corner with a full head of speed.
Wazowski’s top speed may not be anything to write home about, but his ability to recover from tight corners quickly is a significant advantage over the opposition. In a game where speed boosts are relatively easy to come by, his lack of top speed is a worthwhile sacrifice for the chance to finish on top.
6Mulan
The title character of the Disney classicMulanplunges her sword into stereotypesand takes her destiny into her own hands, forging her own legend. Her heroics on the battlefield for her beloved China translate into a fierce and fearless driver inDisney Speedstorm, so much so that she ranks among the game’s elite.
While Mulan takes a hit at the top speed, her handling with a car rivals her skills with a sword. She ranks quite high with acceleration and boost as well, so players can expect Mulan to be speedy from the start.
