A digital version of theCatanboard game is coming to PlayStation and Xbox fans next year. Players will be able to experience the popular game night pick in a new way on consoles in high-quality detail and with special features.
Digital versions of board games are nothing new, as there have been manybeloved tabletop games made digitalfor game consoles in the past, includingCatanon Switch,Carcassone, andPandemic. For the upcoming Console Edition, Dovetail Games and Nomad Games are collaborating to bringCatanto even more gaming platforms.

Catanwill be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, andXbox Series consolesin 2023. A more precise launch date will be announced at a later time. The Console Edition features a variable and dynamic board withCatan’s familiar hexagonal tiles in 3D and roaming NPCs and animals. In solo mode, players can test their wits against AI with different aims and play styles. Playable tutorials will help familiarize new players with the game’s mechanics. By completing challenges, the player can earn in-game cosmetic rewards.
The Console Edition will also featurecouch co-opand online multiplayer modes. Up to four people will be able to play this digital base game version ofCatan. During local play, players can discreetly track their resources and keep track of the cards in their hand by synchronizing their phones with the game. Multiplayer will utilize a ranking system to match up players worldwide who are at a similar skill level. Further information about multiplayer will be released later this year.
