The open beta period forDiablo 4runs from March 24 to 26, wherein players have the chance to see Blizzard’s latest entry in the classic ARPG franchise in action. During this period, players will be able to try out the game’s different classes up to level 25 along, with new mechanics added toDiablo 4. While the Early Access beta, which ran from March 17 to 19, only included the Barbarian, Sorcerer, and Rogue classes, the Open Beta adds Druid and Necromancer into the mix. However, based on player experiences from the Early Access period, the Rogue could be one ofDiablo 4’s most interesting classes.
Players who pre-ordered the game gained entry to theEarly Access beta forDiablo 4, becoming the first to experience the game’s new systems and updated classes. Despite being limited to only three, the classes present during the Early Access period paved the way for Open Beta players to know what’s in store for them. For players interested in challenging their skills acrossDiablo 4’s Sanctuary, the Rogue class seems to be one of the most complex options available.

How the Rogue Plays in the Diablo 4 Beta
TheRogue inDiablo 4fulfills a typical dexterity-based archetype that focuses on using both bows and crossbows, as well as daggers and swords.Diablo 4also allows Rogues to swap between weapon types at will to take advantage of skills without locking players out of one or the other. Rogues take the best aspects of similar classes from the series' past, such as the Amazon and Assassin fromDiablo 2, as well as the Demon Hunter fromDiablo 3, to create an agile character armed to deal quick damage and reposition.
There are a variety of diverse build types for Rogues based on the different skills in their arsenal. Between ranged weapons, melee weapon, traps, and explosives, it seems like Rogues will be some of the most complexcharacters inDiablo 4. Rogues also have the unique Imbue mechanic, which allows players to modify their skills with other damage types including Poison, Cold, or Shadow. By Imbuing certain skills with a different damage type, Rogues can inflict secondary effects on enemies.
On top of these customizations, Rogues can be further customized via three Talent Specializations that are unlocked by completingspecific quests withinDiablo 4. One specialization, Combo Points, allows Rogues to build up combos using basic attacks that can be unleashed using specific skills to increase their power. Another, Exploit Weakness, turns all attacks into critical hits with 60-percent increased power. The most interesting of these specializations is Shadow Realm, which grants Rogues immunity for one second while pulling in enemies for five seconds, during which time they take 50-percent more damage while the Rogue gains stealthed and unstoppable attributes.
The downside to this mechanic is that only one Talent Specializations can be active at a time. However, all three can be acquired and used to help complete quests related to one of the three possible factions Rogues can align with: the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye, the mercenaries of Kehjistan, and the smugglers of Hawezar. With how deepRogue customization inDiablo 4appears to be, players interested in trying out this class will have a lot of combinations of weapons, skills, and specializations to dig into during the open beta.
