Xur has returned again toDestiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. In just a few days, the latest event in 2023 arrives asBungie plans to bring back Guardian Games. While the competition between classes will reignite, with players earning various medals from in-game activities, The Guardian Games Cup is now open to all players instead of being a Twitch specific activity.
Fans are hoping that things stabilize a bit before Guardian Games kicks off, asDestiny 2has seen numerous server related problemsas of late including reports of characters having gone missing. Thankfully, the issue isn’t quite as dire as it may seem, as Bungie did confirm that the server that houses the character data is fine, there was just a communication hiccup that prevented them from appearing as expected.

For now, the weekend merchant Xur has made a return to the world ofDestiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of July 16, 2025.
Where is Xur?
This weekend, players can track Xur back inside the European Dead Zone in his usual spot overlooking the Winding Cove.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.
Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Exotic Armor
Starfire Protocol - Warlock chest armor
After a lengthy absence, the Starfire Protocol is back in stock at Xur. Fusion Harness provides players with 1 extra fusion grenade charge, and they also recharge the Rift ability faster when the player makes a kill with a grenade.
While the perks may not sound very exciting, players have found some interesting uses for the armor, especially with the Solar 3.0 reworks. This support build allows players to use an empowering rift basically letting them have two healing grenades. Plus, the added damage not only recharges the rift but kills made from an empowered weapon also recharge the grenade faster as well. It’s not a must-have item this week, but it does have its uses. The roll is decent, but could be better for Warlocks with above average Mobility and Discipline.
Stat Values (63 Total):
Lucky Pants - Hunter leg armor
The hand cannon specific exotic Lucky Pants are available at Xur this weekend. Its intrinsic perk, Illegally Modded Holster, loads one round into the chamber of stowed hand cannons after a precision hit. In addition, hand cannons ready faster and have a bonus to accuracy after switching to them, which make these very useful for all of theHand Cannons thatDestiny 2has.
For non-hand cannon users, these are an easy item to skip this week. They’re a bit specific, so they’re certainly not going to replace the current meta exotics that Hunters have access to, though the roll on these this week are pretty solid at a 65 overall. Mobility and Recovery are quite high, so this may be a good purchase, even if it is destined for the Collections bin.
Stat Values (65 Total):
Armamentarium - Titan chest armor
The Armamentarium is back in stock at Xur for Titan players this weekend. Its exotic perk And Another Thing gives players one additional grenade charge. Unlike other exotics, this armor is easy to pair with any subclass, though it does shine brighter with specific ones.
A popular tactic with this item is to run suppressor grenades which will grant players double the power to take supers away from their enemies. It may not be exciting or flashy compared to some other exotics in the game, but it remains easy to recommend considering how valuable two grenades can be in most situations. The stat roll on it is also pretty great, coming in at a 65 overall with strong Resilience and Discipline.
Stat Values (65 total):
Exotic Weapon
Unlike most other grenade launchers in this class, The Prospector canfire its rounds as a fully automatic weaponby holding down the trigger. Its exotic perk is called Excavation which lets players hold the trigger to fire the grenade and then release it to detonate all live grenades simultaneously. In addition, grenades can stick to surfaces and set targets on fire.
Naturally, this weapon allows players to blanket large areas with grenades before detonating them all at once. It can be a little unruly with the full auto system, but once players get the hang of it, it can lay some serious damage on enemies. It’s an older weapon, but it’s likely that many newer players may not have it since it hasn’t been in the spotlight in quite a while. Still, it can come in handy and ultimately, is worth picking up.
Additional perks:
Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions,Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.
