The Splicer Gauntlet is a new item for Season of the Splicer thatDestiny 2players can acquire and upgrade to make Override missions easier and more rewarding. Some upgrades will improve drop rates for loot and upgrading resources, while others will allow players to unlock shortcuts and improved heavy ammo crates in Override.

The gauntlet itself is gifted toDestiny 2players byEliksni Kell of Light Mithraxand it is what helps Guardians with accessing the Vex Network in Override missions. Players can get lots of great Splicer weapons from Override missions, some of which will definitely be useful in the reprised Vault of Glass Raid.

The main purpose of the Splicer Gauntlet is that it allows Guardians tocraft Key Codes using Etherwhich can open Conflux Chests at the end of Override missions. These chests contain significantly better rewards compared to the regular Vex Chests. The gauntlet’s upgrades are crucial for efficiently farming resources to ensure players never run out of Key Codes and never miss an opportunity for great Splicer loot.

How to Upgrade the Splicer Gauntlet

OnceDestiny 2players have the Splicer Gauntlet, they will need a resource calledDecrypted Data to buy upgrades. Players will need to speak to the Splicer Servitor, which can be found in the new Eliksni hangar within the HELM, to access the gauntlet upgrade options.

There are 21 upgrades for the gauntlet, although only 16 are available at the moment. The upgrades are split across three tiers of seven upgrades, with each tier offering improved versions of the previous tier’s upgrades. Tier I upgrades cost 100 Decrypted Data each, Tier II upgrades cost 300 data, while Tier III upgrades cost 500 data.

Splicer Gauntlet Upgrades

Codestrider:

The Codestrider upgrade allows players to activate green nodes within platforming sections of theVex Network in Overrideand Expunge missions. These Codestrider nodes create shortcut platforms that go around the obstacles in these sections. However, only players with the Codestrider upgrade can summon and use these platforms.

As part of the Path of the Splicer III quest, Destiny 2 players will gain access to the next two upgrades in this column after obtaining the Codebreaker module which grants access to Expunge missions. Signal Booster is the Tier II upgrade in this column, and it allows players to activate extra gravity cannons within Expunge missions.

In Tier III, players can get the Wirewalker upgrade, which can reveal shortcuts or remove obstacles. Players will be prompted to activate Wirewalker benefits at certain obstacles in Expunge missions. There is a seasonal challenge in week three that requires players to complete anExpunge mission in under 10 minutes, and these upgrades will help players with completing the missions as quickly and easily as possible.

Override Efficiency:

This upgrade is one of the most useful Splicer Gauntlet upgrades forDestiny 2players to have. In short, it generally increases and somewhat improves the rewards from the Vex and Conflux Chests found at the end of Override missions. At Tier I, Override Efficiency gives standard Vex Chests a small chance to dropSeason of the Splicergear. As for Conflux Chests, these will now have a chance to drop Umbral Engrams and can drop one focused Umbral Engram per week. Finally, the amount of Decrypted Data acquired from each Conflux Chest increases from 25 to 35.

At Tier II, Override Efficiency increases the chance for Vex Chests to award Splicer gear and for Conflux Chests to award Umbral Engrams. Conflux Chests can also rewardDestiny 2players with up to two focused Umbral Engrams and now grant 45 Decrypted Data.

Override Efficiency III will increase the chances of getting Splicer gear and Umbral Engrams from the two chest types even further and will allow players to get up to three focused Umbral Engrams per week and 55 Decrypted Data from Conflux Chests.

Deletion Exclusion:

This upgrade slightly reduces the damage players take from laser beams and grids found in theVex Network. Deletion Exclusion II and III offer no additional benefits other than reducing the damage taken from these defenses even more with each tier.

Ether Upgrades:

The first upgrade in this category is Ether Filter which increases the chance of defeated combatants awarding players with Ether. This upgrade seems to significantly increase this chance, making Ether much easier to collect, especially during playlist activities - Strikes, Crucible, andGambit- which also award Ether.

The Tier II upgrade, Ether Recirculator increases this chance even more. Ether Purifier, the Tier III, upgrade increases the chance to its maximum but also increases the amount of Ether gained from completing activities.

Halt and Open Fire:

The Halt and Fire upgrades increase the amount of heavy ammo a player gains when resupplying from a heavy ammo crate. If a player deposits 10 Motes at once in anOverride mission, they will summon a heavy ammo crate next to the terminal. Any player can then go to the crate and quickly resupply some of their ammo but players with Halt and Open Fire upgrades unlocked for their Splicer Gauntlets will get more heavy ammo. At higher tiers, this upgrade gives even more heavy ammo compared to the previous tier.

Memory Expansion:

This upgrade will increase the Splicer Gauntlet’s maximum Ether and Key Code storage capacities. By default, the gauntlet can hold only 100 Ether and three Key Codes. Memory Expansion I and II will increase the gauntlet’s Ether capacity by 50 and Key Code capacity by one. However, at Tier III, the gauntlet will be able to hold an additional 100 Ether and one more Key Code, meaning a gauntlet with Memory Expansion III can hold up to 300 Ether and six Key Codes.

Vulnerability Exploit:

These gauntlet upgrades are no longer corrupted but can only be unlocked by players once they have collected the Corrupted Access upgrades from Mithraks in thePath of the Splicer VI story quest. With this upgrade, Destiny 2 players can access Corrupted Conflux Chests in Corrupted Expunge missions.

The Vulnerability Exploit I, II, and III upgrades for the Splicer Gauntlet improve the quality and quantity of loot that players can get from the chest. Each upgrade increases the amount of Decrypted Data awarded from the chest and will increase the chance of getting Umbral Engrams as a reward.

These upgrades will also give players a chance at getting a limited number of high-stat rolls on seasonal armor or seasonal weapons with two perks in one column to choose from each week. With Vulnerability Exploit I, players can get one high-stat armor piece or double-perk weapon per week, while Vulnerability Exploit III will give players up to three per week.

Upgrade Recommendations:

There are definitely some very useful, must-have upgrades and a few worthless ones for the Splicer Gauntlet. When starting out,Destiny 2players should go for the upgrades that increase resource drops and storage first. The first five upgrades that players should focus on getting as soon as possible are Ether Filter, Override Efficiency I, Memory Expansion I, and Override Efficiency II and III.

Ether is very hard to come by at first, so the Ether Filter will reduce time spent grinding for Ether to craft Key Codes. Getting Override Efficiency I purely for the increased Decrypted Data drops from Conflux Chests will allow players to get the next upgrades even faster. To further reduce time spent gathering Ether, players should get Memory Expansion I next so that players can hold more at a time and craft even more Key Codes. These first three upgrades are all Tier I upgrades and will cost players 300 Decrypted Data in total.

Next, players should go all in on Override Efficiency. This will increase the amount of Decrypted Data rewarded to its maximum, which will make getting all the other upgrades much easier. Since players will need to buy Override Efficiency II and III, this will cost 800 Decrypted Data.

With the most important upgrades out of the way,Destiny 2players can choose whichever upgrades they think will be most beneficial. Codestrider or Memory Expansion II are great upgrade choices that will help players in different ways. Although players should definitely save the Deletion Exclusion upgrades for the end. Codestrider platforms allow players to skip a lot of the laser defenses that Deletion Exclusion protects players against, so it is not worth spending Decrypted Data on right away.
