Solstice of Heroes has recently kicked off inDestiny 2, and players are likelygrinding for the Magnificent armor setand its glows. But while there are still things to do in the game currently, fans are likely wondering what the future holds for the next expansion and beyond.
In an interview posted to the Chinese website GameCores,Destiny 2’s Production Director Justin Truman spoke on the direction Bungie is heading with Beyond Light, and where the series is going in the long run. He speaks about Eramis, the Fallen leader who is the main villain for Beyond Light, and how she gains Darkness powers to try to take down the Guardians, as well aswhat is next for Season of Arrivalsand the future expansions of the game. A major point Truman made was the fact that the upcoming three expansions - Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, and Lightfall - will act as a trilogy, and how the story ofDestiny 2has lead to what fans will see this November.

Truman also talks about the new Stasis abilities coming with Beyond Light. He explains how Bungie’s goal with Stasis is to prioritize “battlefield control” over “pure DPS,” which would be an interesting shift for the gameplay loop ofDestiny. In addition to this, he speaks about the ongoing Season of Arrivals, and how there are “a few more surprises to come,” which is a huge relief for fans after Bungiedelayed Beyond Light to Novemberand the calendar for the rest of the season looked fairly dry.
It is no surprise to fans that Beyond Light is aiming to try to change the way players engage in combat inDestiny 2. SinceForsaken added new supers to the game, there has been little in the way of new gameplay elements introduced into the game, aside from the introduction of Champions in Shadowkeep last Fall. Players have been anxious to hear more about what they will face in the coming years, including the long-awaited showdown with Savathun, who has been lingering in the background for years.
Bungie is set to announce more about Beyond Light in the weeks and months to come, and with the recent announcement ofDestiny 2coming to the Xbox Game Passin September, there is much to look forward to leading up to November. Hopefully,Destiny 2can deliver some exciting new material after the disastrous Season of the Worthy, and bring fans the smash-hit story they have been after since the launch of the series so many years ago.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
