Players have a bunch of new challenges to complete inDestiny 2Season of the Wish,and these range from mundane to months-long pursuits. TheFocused Intention challengefalls under the former, and it’s an excellent way to kickstart the new season with a shower of XP.
Completing the Focused Intention challenge isn’t mandatory, but it’s great for players who want to blaze through theDestiny 2seasonal rewards track and get enough Bright Dust for the new Eververse items. Thankfully, this challenge isn’t at all hard to beat. Here’s a guide for those who are confused about how to make progress with it.
Destiny 2 Focused Intention Challenge Guide
The challenge asks players to defeat combatants inritual activitiesusingPrimary ammo weapons. Bonus progress is awarded by using Auto Rifles, Hand Cannons, Pulse Rifles, and Bows. Defeating other Guardians also yields more progress than usual.
It doesn’t matter ifplayers use Kinetic or elemental weaponsfor this challenge.All that’s required is that the weapon uses Primary ammo, not Special or Heavy, inside the three core ritual playlists: Vanguard Operations, Crucible, and Gambit. It’s up to the player to pick which playlist they want to spend time in, though Vanguard Strikes tends to be the fastest and most convenient place to do any sort of playlist-related challenge.
Players who are skilled in PvP can make the most efficient progress by playing in the Crucible. They’ll also be able to get more Crucible Engrams while they’re at it, which can be used to focus on either Rose or Mercurial Overreach, weapons that were only obtainable from the Competitive playlist from the previous seasons. However, keep in mind that the Focused Intention challenge requiresfinal blowswith the weapons listed above. Assists won’t count even if the Crucible counts them as eliminations.
There isa case to be made for Gambitwhen it comes to completing the Focused Intention challenge. This game mode sits between Vanguard Ops and Crucible in the sense that both hostile combatants and opposing Guardians are in the same match. Also, players can earn reprised Gambit gear like the Breakneck Auto Rifle andSeason of the Drifterarmor sets. They can be found in the Legacy Gear tab of the Focused Decoding section of the Drifter’s vendor menu.
Sadly, defeating enemies in the seasonal Riven’s Lair and The Coil activities won’t count towards any challenges related to ritual playlists.
