Days Gonehas been available on PC for a week now and it looks to be a successful second showing for Sony and Bend Studio’s biker adventure game. As of May 23rd, it even managed to become the best seller of the week on Steam, overtaking the arguably more hypedMass Effect Legendary Edition. However, it doesn’t seem to have been as popular as Sony’s first PC port:Horizon Zero Dawn, at least on Steam.

Currently,Days Goneis enjoying a higher player count of 19,053 players compared toHorizon’s 2983, but that’s mostly due to the former being brand new, whereas the latter has been available on Steam for almost a year now. But, according to Steam Database, and reported on by VG247, whenHorizonlaunched on PC last August, it managed to attract 56,557 players, which so far remains its all-time peak.Days Gone’s all-time peak, by comparison, is only 27,450, which it achieved two days ago.

What makes this somewhat surprising is the fact thatHorizon: Zero Dawn’s PC release was rather rough. When it launched, there were numerous reports of various issues, ranging from lag to the game outright crashing.Days Gone’s PC port, on the other hand, was much more optimized and included more PC features.

Perhaps the main reason for this is simply because of each game’s respective reception when they first released on the PlayStation 4.Horizon: Zero Dawnreceived plenty of praise from multiple outlets and was a sales success.Days Gonesold really well too, but the critical reception was more split. Also, of the two, it’sHorizonthat is getting a sequel for the PlayStation 5, whereasDays Gone’spitch for a sequelwas rejected by Sony. Both games are available on the Epic Games Store as well, so it’s possibleDays Goneis outperformingHorizonthere, but there are no official statistics to confirm this.

DespiteDays Goneperforming well on PC, it remains to be seen if this will have an effect on Sony’s decision to turn down the sequel. Even with its mixed reception, the game has cultivated enough of a dedicated fan base to want a sequel. A petition to convince Sony to change its mind soon went viral and, at the time of writing, has over 115,000 signees. Sony hasn’t acknowledged the petition and while there may be an audience for it, it seems very likely that therewill never be aDays Gone 2.

Days Goneis available on PC and PlayStation 4.
