For anyone who thinks Night City could do with a few more cats, that dream is now a reality thanks to a series of mods forCyberpunk 2077that add more feline companion variations to CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG. Despite being noteworthy for its gritty backdrop, high-octane action, and depictions of violence,Cyberpunk 2077is also agame that supports non-lethal playthroughs. Many players like a more subtle approach to their dystopian role-playing, and there’s probably nothing less lethal than petting a cat.
WithCyberpunk 2077’sPhantom LibertyDLC on the way, interest in the 2020 release has grown, especially since the developer worked diligently to undo the damage caused by the initial launch. These days, fans are ready to forgive CDPR for the state of the game when it dropped a couple of years ago and was generally panned for its numerous and sometimes game-breaking bugs. Nowadays, things are much different and the modding community has been in full swing releasing its own custom content.

One such example is a series of mods that have been uploaded by Nexus Mods user Deceptious. It’s now possible forCyberpunk 2077players to come across more cats throughout the game, specifically in apartments. The description says that each cat has been “fully individualized” with different looks, and each separate mod relates to a particular apartment in Night City, such as the Corpo Plaza or The Glen. The cats themselves have been given designated places where they can nap, such as on a chair.
Although there is already a cat in the vanilla game, CD Projekt Red decided not to make it possible to interact with it. However, a recentmod forCyberpunk 2077allows players to pet the stray cat, and in fact, Deceptious is the one who made that add-on as well. Evidently, they feel this dystopian future is simply screaming for more furry animals that V can stroke or even adopt. No doubt many players will leap at the chance to happen upon a series of cats while exploring apartments.
With the game now in a much better state than it was when it was released and fans apparently much happier,CD Projekt Red announced aCyberpunk 2077sequelnot long ago. Whether the studio has learned from its past mistakes remains to be seen, but if anything, maybe the developer will see fit to put more feline creatures in the next entry.
Cyberpunk 2077is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
