As the world waits for CD Projekt Red’sCyberpunk 2077, recentlydelayed until September due to optimization concerns, the highly-anticipated game’s marketing machine is chugging along at full speed. The latest cog in that machine, unveiled through a Twitter exchange with the NVIDIA GeForce account this morning, appears to be a specially designed graphics card for the game.
The exchange began with a tongue-in-cheek message from theCyberpunk 2077social media account directly asking NVIDIA if they want to make a “limited edition” GPU. NVIDIA acted curious about the offer in turn, but when pushed a little further dropped a blurry teaser image of a yellow-and-black device with the text “stay tuned…”

As some of the comments under this Twitter exchange have pointed out, the brand synergy is perfect not only because ofCyberpunk 2077’s focus on cybernetics, but also because one of NVIDIA’s products is literally called the RTX 2070 — just one number off from being a perfect tie-in. That RTX 2070 is a powerful piece of tech, on-par with the upcomingPlayStation 5’s rumored graphics card, so many collectors would have no qualms buying one that looks pretty too.
A limited edition graphics card is just one of the many products currently circulating the Internet that will be connected withCyberpunk 2077. Not long ago, a South African games retailer leaked aCyberpunk-themed Xbox One Wireless Controller, though that listing has since been removed.
Hype for the impending open-world role-playing game from the creators of fan-favorite titles likeThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntis at an all-time high, particularly after the delay announcement last month.Cyberpunk 2077is one of manymajor games delayed in 2020, including theFinal Fantasy 7 RemakeandMarvel’s Avengers.
However, there’s no doubt that a delayed game is more likely to turn out great than one that is rushed out the door. As CD Projekt Red Producer John Mamais has expressed an interest inportingCyberpunk 2077to the Nintendo Switch, a good initial reception may help grease those wheels.
There’s still a good few months before the game releases, which gives excited players time to shore up their PCs for an optimal experience at launch. Mamais has saidCyberpunk 2077will run “beautifully"on the best tech available, so it’s safe to assume that the developers believe NVIDIA’s graphics card is shaping up to be just that.
Cyberpunk 2077is set to release on September 17th, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
