Cyberpunk 2077is a world saturated with guns. Gun stores are peppered throughout the map andevery cyber-enhanced thug in Night City is packingsome variety of weapon. It won’t be long into the game until the player is carrying an entire armory worth of guns in their inventory. But the player might not be ready for every gun in their arsenal.
Cyberpunk 2077retains the weapon leveling system from CD Projekt Red’s previous game,The Witcher 3. This system means that no single weapon, be it silver sword or electric shotgun, lasts long before a newer, better one is found. Soon enough the player is carrying around not only the three highest level weapons they actually use, but a plethora of lower-level weapons that need sold or broken down for parts.

Rarely does a player come across a weapon that is too high a level for them. But it can happen ifthe player has neglected their “Body” statthroughout the game. The game does still allow players to equip and use these guns, however. This is what happened to Reddit user dejinerlaunda, when they found themselves with a shotgun they were ill-equipped to handle.
The clip shows the Reddit user clearing out a group of enemies with a new shotgun. The player then quickly realizes the gun is unsuitable as its high-level manifests in game as uncontrollable recoil and extremely slow reloading. They are then forced to abandon the new gunand switch to more reliable weaponsto finish off the gang.
Most players will never find a gun too high-level for them in one playthrough of the game. The most common gun some players find too high level isfan favorite character Panam’s sniper rifle.Cyberpunk 2077can often seem oversaturated with guns. Players may wonder why they have to pick though hundreds of seemingly identical guns to find the one with the highest arbitrary damage numbers. It’s refreshing then to find that there actually is a system in the game that shows the increasing power of these guns outside the view of a player consistently leveling up to them.
PerhapsCyberpunk 2077should have had more weapons too powerful for the player to use upon first finding. The “legendary” guns can start feeling a bit cheap when even major boss weapons can be superseded in damage by the next random gun found on the ground. Finding a high-level legendary gun early in the game and holding on to it until V is leveled enough to use it could be a great way for players to see their increasing ability.
Cyberpunk 2077is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
