Since Nintendo releasedAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, it has inspired countless unique creations like previous titles in the series; from attire and accessories to internal and external decorations. OneAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfan has completed their version of the British sitcomThe IT Crowd’s main set in their in-game house’s basement.
Reddit user DarkwingRage recently posted a clip of theirAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsreplica of the very clutteredThe IT Crowdoffice, complete with two NPCs acting as Roy Trenneman and Maurice Moss, played inThe IT Crowdby Chris O’Dowd and Richard Ayoade respectively. The IT Crowdisn’t the first sitcom to be mimicked inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsas another fan has recreatedJoey and Chandler’s apartment fromFriends, and other popular shows reflected in the game thus far includeMoon Knight,Death Note, andStar Trek. Though it may not be the first copy of a TV show set, fans ofThe IT Crowdwill immediately recognize why a lot of the items are included in DarkwingRage’sAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsbasement.

InThe IT Crowd, Roy and Moss' desks are adjacent so that the two can banter as they help people with their IT problems over the phone, and that’s true with DarkwingRage’s creation of the set inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. Just like in the sitcom, the walls are covered in various posters and the floor hardly has space to move in because of countless knick-knacks taking over the furniture other than two sofas which would likely be covered in things if the Switch game allowed for it. Missing a red door to Richmond Avenal’s chambers, the vampire-like character is represented by a large portrait of Jack fromAnimal Crossing: New Horizon’s Halloween event.
DarkwingRage’sAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsversion ofThe IT Crowdhas shelves in multiple spots of the basement and the two characters are surrounded by tech items like TV with VCR, Effects Rack, and Touchscreen Cash Register. There are also multiple Gyroids adding to the clutter in the basement, while there areAnimal Crossing: New HorizonsVillager Photosfor Bella, Drago, Static, and Stitches which are acquired by being best friends with them. Atop both desks are a computer and phone each, effectively representing the job Roy and Moss face each day inThe IT Crowd.
AlthoughThe IT Crowdis a British sitcom, it reached a broader audience when it was eventually included in theNetflix lineup. Referencing multiple episodes ofThe IT Crowd, Reddit users responding to DarkwingRage repeated lines of the show like Roy and Moss' horrible IT advice, hints at a third character not included in the basement, and the catchy jingle for the emergency hotline inThe IT Crowd. Many IT workers are familiar with the question “have you tried turning it off and on again?” and it’s such a repeated line inThe IT Crowdthat one of the top replies to DarkwingRage’s post echoes the sentiment.
Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis available now for Nintendo Switch.
