One of several exciting announcements made over the past couple of days in the world of anime and manga isa brand-newCode Geassanime projectset to make its arrival in Spring 2024. A new key visual as well as the first trailer ofCode Geass: Rozé of the Recapturewere revealed on Monday at a special event.

The series forms part of theCode GeassNext 10Years Project, which is a plan for the future of theCode Geassfranchise first revealed by series producer Kojiro Taniguchi in 2019. The 10Years Project was kicked off with theLelouch of the Re;surrectionfilm which hit US theatres in May 2019.

The trailer revealed the actors who’ll play the protagonist duo, the opening theme, as well as a number of staff at animation studio Sunrise who will be working onCode Geass: Rozé of the Recapture.The upcoming project is set to be a four-part theatrical release, the first of which is slated to premiere in May 2024, during the Spring anime season.

Initially announced asCode Geass: Z of the Recaptureback in 2020, the upcoming project is set intheCode Geassuniversecreated by Goro Taniguchi and Ichiro Okouki, and follows two protagonists, Rozé and Ash, voiced by Kohei Amasaki (Haruo Yaguchi,Hi Score Girl) and Makoto Furukawa (Kencho,Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead) respectively. When it was first announced,Z of the Recapturewas introduced as an upcoming TV anime that continued from whereLelouch of the Re;surrectionleft off.

The upcomingRozé of the Recapturetetralogy will be directed by Yoshimitsu Ohashi at Sunrise, the same studio that produced theCode GeassTV anime, with scripts written by Noboru Kimura and Kumiko Sakamoto serving as editor, whileCLAMP is once again credited with the character designs, which were then adapted for animation by Takahiro Kimura and Hidekazu Shimamura.

Other staff members credited in the production ofCode Geass: Rozé of the Recaptureinclude animators Takahiro Kimura (who unfortunately passed away in February), Hidekazu Shimamura, Seiichi Nakatani, Satoshi Shigeta, and Takashi Hashimoto; art director Kazuhiro Obata; CGI director Shuji Shinoda and colour designers Ami Katsuna and Yuichi Kuboki, with Hiroyuki Chiba as director of photography and the series' 3DCG by BUEMON Inc.

Jin Aketagawa serves as sound director while Kenji Kawai composes the music. The trailer also revealed the theme song, “Running In My Head”, performed by MIYAVI. The first part ofCode Geass: Rozé of the Recapturepremieres May 2024.
