Though Infinity Ward just released a large update toCall of Duty: Modern Warfaretoroll out the Season 1 updateto the game, the team has already followed it with Update 1.11. Though the changes implemented with this second patch aren’t as groundbreaking as the initial patch, some interesting tweaks have been made.
For the most part,Modern Warfare’s 1.11 patch seems mainly to be a patch to improve stability in certain areas. Infinity Ward tweeted out that, “An update has gone out across all platforms to help improve stability on Ground War.” Additionally, it looks like some players are saying that the Infected game mode can be accessed in private matches. Although these matches would be against bots, this is the first time that the game mode has been added to private matches.

Modern Warfare’s 1.10 patch totaled in at a whopping 20GB on PC and an almost equally massive 15GB on PS4. Understandably so, as this initial update added a plethora of new multiplayer maps and modes. Additionally, this patch also tweaked a few balance issues and technical problems, like the wonky killcam bug or occurrences of players getting stuck inside objects on the map.
Unfortunately, many fans seem to be dissatisfied with some of the recent changes made with the 1.10 patch. This is becausefan favorite modes have been removed, such as the very popular Gun Game, or at the very least have been replaced with other modes. Though the modes can still be played in private matches, they’re no longer in the online rotation, much to many players chagrin.
In a similar vein, players have also reportedly sent outdeath threats toModern Warfare’s co-design director, Joe Cecot. This is because many players believed that a rumored patch was coming to the game that would overhaul large portions of the game, while addressing areas of player concern or additions fans were hoping for. However, no such patch ever came to fruition, leaving some dedicated fans to lash out to the development team.
Though Update 1.11 was light on content and mainly meant to fix stability issues, that’s not the end for updates to Modern Warfare for the remainder of 2019. From December 3 to January 28,weekly patches will releaseadding new modes, new maps, new Operations missions, and other content. Hopefully, fans will find something to really enjoy through the updates releasing from now into 2020, but only time will tell how fan reaction toModern Warfare’s current online ecosystem sways or stays the same.
