This can definitely make them less interesting and harder to care about. In the early days ofCall of Duty, this is always how it was until the emblem editor inCall of Duty: Black Opsrevolutionized what was possible for players. The emblem editor was more utilized by Treyarch, appearing in three of its games to Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer’s one.

Redditor zipitnick floated the idea of customizable patches that players can add to theirCall of DutyOperators. They even show off a proof-of-concept of the idea in an amazing TikTok video from cybernation that shows just how it would apply to current Operators. It definitely works, and doesn’t look out of place at all. Considering how crazy someCall of Dutyskins have gotten in recent titles, comparatively this looks right at home.
In the post, they even detail some other areas where the custom patches could appear, including the helmet, chest, or shoulders. Others in the thread loved the idea, with one user claiming that “Operator customization is long overdue.” The only argument that gamers seemed to have against it is that it would provide Activision with a reason to inflate the value of its bundles in the game, which is certainly a valid argument. There is an undeniable demand for more customization inCall of Dutygames. Just a few years ago,hackers inCall of Duty: Warzonewere even creating custom Operator skins.
Redditor zipitnick does acknowledge that at this point, this feature is extremely unlikely to come inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. With the rumor thatthe next game isCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, perhaps developer Sledgehammer Games can ensure it makes its way to the newest title in the long-running franchise. It is approaching the time of year when the nextCall of Dutytitle is usually announced and shown off, so it seems that gamers won’t have to wait too long until they know more solid information.
