Months after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022OscarsCeremony, the latter comedian is finally opening up about the incident that will definitely go down in history.
After comedian Rock told a joke at theOscarsthat took a jab at Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia while presenting the Best Documentary category, her husband actorWill Smith was outraged. In a fit of rage, he got up from his seat and slapped Rock across the face. The altercation sparked outrage and sent shock waves through Hollywood, however, Rock is making his feelings about the situation very clear publicly.

The comedian is currentlytouring the country with Kevin Hart, and in a recent comedy show Rock has spoken out about the matter. Rock made it clear to his audience at his show in Holmdel, New Jersey that he isn’t in any way a victim, and he jokingly said that it hurt when Will Smith slapped him, saying, “Yeah, that sht hurt, motherf**ker. But I shook that sht off and went to work the next day. I don’t go to the hospital for a paper cut.” Rock went on to add, “Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.” Rock’s comedy tour began right after the Oscars but at the time Rock refrained from talking about the incident, telling the audience at his Boston show a week after the slap, “I’m still kind of processing what happened. So at some point, I’ll talk about that shit. And it will be serious and funny.”
So it seems that now Rock is finally at a point where he can laugh at some of the major hiccups and slaps in the face life brings his way. Smith has since apologized for his behavior at theOscars. In a statement where he revealed his resignation from the Academy, Smith expressed, “The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken.” Smith went on to add that, “change takes time, and I am committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason.”The Academy has also banned Will Smithfrom being a member for the next decade.
The situation has been a major learning lesson for all parties involved, and whileWill Smith is trying to learnand grasp the repercussions of his actions, Rock is trying to lighten the weight by finding some light and laughter within all theOscars’chaos.
