Some people get all the luck. Not only did fans who were signed up as part ofCapcom’s Resident Evil Ambassadors program get to playtestResident Evil Resistance–the upcomingResident Evil 3remake’s multiplayer mode–earlier this year, but now they get to playtest another unannounced game.
This morning, members of the Resident Evil Ambassadors program received an email fromCapcomsaying that testing will begin on a new “unannounced title.” Already the internet is abuzz with the possibilities of what this new mystery game could be.

The email (which has been published on Reddit) mentions that Capcom has limited offers for “invitations to a play test session of our unannounced title.” Capcom will also be giving priority seating to members of the program at their game show booth. Given that all the major trade shows for the year have wrapped up, it’s possible these seats could be for 2020’s E3, which will be several months away. The email also mentions that there will be four new ranks in the Ambassador Program, four different types of Ambassador Cards, and an update to the program’s terms and services for 2020.
Capcom has already proven that it’s willing to let fans test out some pretty big games, given that theProject Resistancegame Ambassadors tested earlier this year turned out to be theResident Evil 3remake’s multiplayer. And just because they’re called Resident Evil Ambassadors doesn’t necessarily mean this will be aResident Evilgame they’re testing. It just so happens that Capcom has recentlyrenewed trademarks for some of their classic games, includingDino Crisis,Bionic Commando, andDarkstalkers. This new playtest could be for an HD remake or reboot for any one of these series. Or it could just be routine maintenance for intellectual property protection.
Then again, it might not make sense to have survival horror fans playtest a platformer (Bionic Commando) or fighting game (Darkstalkers). It’s clearfans really want aDino Crisisremakeand it would make sense to have the Ambassadors play it since it’s also survival horror. What would make even more sense for the Resident Evil Ambassadors to playtest, though, is a brand newResident Evilgame. Could this new mystery game be the first glance atResident Evil 8? Or maybe this is a brand new IP from Capcom with a survival horror twist?
There’s really no way to know for sure, so fans will just have to wait untilCapcommakes an official announcement.
