This past week saw the release ofCall of Duty: Vanguard, the latest entry in Activision’s annual series. For this year’s release, Seldgehammer Games brought players back to World War 2, stepping into the shoes of an Allied Special Task Force as they work to undermine a secret Nazi operation called Project Phoenix. In addition to the campaign, Vanguard brings its own Zombies game mode as well as the popular competitive multiplayer mode which includes thenew 2v2 Champion Hill arenawhich is intended to be an evolution of Gunfight.
While Zombies has seemingly left a lot of fans disappointed, the multiplayer mode has continued to be a bright spot within the game, thanks to the large amount of content on day one including 20 maps in total. However, the experience hasn’t been perfect as players have run into numerous bugs, strangeness, and glitches like agame-breaking one inside of the Search and Destroy mode. Thanksfully, a frustrating one issue with the combat shield has finally been fixed with the latest update.

A few days after launch,Vanguardplayers discovered an issue with the combat shield, where the item wasn’t deflecting bullets once it was placed on their back. Unfortunately, the game seemed to disregard the shield, letting enemy players shoot through it like nothing was there at all. Thankfully, the latest update forCall of Duty: Vanguardhas arrived and the patch notes indicate that the combat shield bug has been fixed and will now properly deflect bullets when stored on a player’s back.
Players who log intoCall of Duty: Vanguardwill see the complete list from the November 10 update, which include fixes for a number of problems including users who are unable to redeem codes, invisible player models during MVP and Play of the Game voting, pistol camo challenge progression, field upgrade being locked for those who have just recovered from being down, and more. Weapon challenges have also gotten a fix for inaccurate unlock requirements being displayed, which should please those looking to score Gold, Diamond, and Atomic skins.
In terms of Diamond weapon skins, there are those within the community who are unsatisfied with these weapon camos.Mastery camos traditionally take a while to fully unlock inCall of Dutyand for many, the time required isn’t worth it for how the camo actually looks. Some have called the camo “thumbtacks glued to a gun” due to the diamonds appearing more flat, almost as it was a 2D texture pasted on the weapon. It’s unknown if Sledgehammer will be making adjustments to the camo, but one thing that won’t be changing is that players who want other mastery camos will still need to grind for this one.
Call of Duty: Vanguardis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
