Activision and Infinity Ward have released theCall of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 2 update, and it’s massive. PS4 players have to deal with a 51 GB update, PC players have a 67 GB update, and Xbox One players have a whopping 68 GB update. An Infinity Ward developer has since explained why theModern WarfareSeason 2 update is so large, but it hasn’t stopped fans from voicing their displeasure on social media.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfareproduction director Paul Haile has explained that the reason why theSeason 2 updateis so large is because Infinity Ward is trying to reduce the overall size of the game. The update includes new asset packs that will accomplish this, which is why theModern WarfareSeason 2 update is so massive.

While Haile’s explanation may satisfy some who are upset about theCall of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 2 update download size, others will still not be happy. Both 51 GB and 68 GB are trending on Twitter right now, with some fans complaining that the update is so large that they won’t be able to playModern WarfareSeason 2 at all today.

What makes this sting a little bit more is that the long-awaitedModern WarfareSeason 2 update doesn’t seem to include all of theDay One contentthat was promised by the roadmap. We are unable to confirm this through our own testing as our update is still downloading, but language in the press release suggests that some of the promised Day One content won’t actually be added to the game until later in the season.

This includesGunfight Tournaments, which was set to return after being missing fromModern Warfarefor weeks, and the new Gunfight map Bazaar. Gunfight fans may be disappointed by this news, but on the bright side, Season 2 does include at least one new Gunfight map. While it wasn’t clarified in the Season 2 trailer, it’s since been confirmed that the fan favoriteModern Warfare 2map Rust will indeed be featured as both a standard multiplayer map and a Gunfight map, so fans of both modes can enjoy it.

TheModern WarfareSeason 2 update is massive, but hopefully this means that future updates won’t have to be quite as huge. Fans of the popular first-person shooter will have to stay tuned for more information fromInfinity Wardto find out for sure.
