Free multiplayer weekends are absolutely nothing new forCall of Dutyand evenCall of Duty: Modern Warfare. With so many people playing thefree version ofCall of Duty: Warzone,it makes sense to give those players access to the full version’s multiplayer, even for a short amount of time. It seems like Infinity Ward has no plans on stopping that too, as the developer has revealed that players of the aforementioned battle royale mode will be granted access to parts of the game’s multiplayer completely free of charge this weekend only.

The news comes the way of Activision’s blog, where it was announced alongside most of the details concerning Season 4 ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s post-launch content plans.

According to the Activision Blog, the free weekend is set to start today, August 05, 2025, and will end on Monday, Jun 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM PDT (1:00 PM EDT).  For this free weekend, players will have access to standard 6v6 multiplayer maps likeprevious free weekends, including Shoot House, Rust, Shipment, Hardhat, and Scrapyard, the new standard multiplayer map added during the Season 4 update.

Unlike the previous free weekends, however, players will now get access to a specialGunfight playlist, the highly-praised 3v3 mode that features quicker gameplay. Maps featured in that playlist include King, Speedball, Bazaar, Aisle 9, and Trench, the map that was just added to the game during the latest update. That makes a total number of 12 maps included with this free weekend if one counts both the standard multiplayer and gunfight maps, which is an absolutely insane amount of content to give free Warzone players.

It’s worth pointing out that some Gunfight maps, like Trench and Aisle 9, have had 6v6 playlists attached to them in the past, so it’ll be interesting to see if those maps are available in the standard playlist as well, or if they’ll remain exclusively a part of a Gunfight playlist. Additionally, maps like Rust and Shipment are also available as a part of Gunfight normally, so there’s a chance that those maps will also be a part of the Gunfight playlist. Infinity Ward has not commented on the matter, so only time will tell if either will happen.

Regardless, the amount of free content Infinity Ward is giving out this weekend is superb. FreeCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers will finally be able to level up their guns in a more consistent manner and, even if they miss this weekend, they still have a chance to do so thanks to the newWarzone Rumble mode, which acts as a glorified Team Deathmatch for the most part. All in all, free players should have no problems leveling up their characters now.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
