Players have been flooding back intoCall of Duty: Warzonelately as the game has just entered its fifth season. Players are eager to check out the changes made to the battle royale’s map including new improvements to some popular locations oreven hitch a ride on the newly added train. While the game is packed full of players, Activision appears to be taking advantage of Season 5’s massive hype by dropping cryptic promotions for the next installment in theCall of Dutyfranchise.
Earlier this week, Activision along with Treyarch Studios and Raven Software finally confirmed the existence of the nextCall of Dutygame. It’s much later in the year for the typicalCall of Dutyreveal and even now, fans are still waiting for the official reveal or a trailer for the nextCall of Duty. Currently, all fans have to work with is the announcement from Activision during an earnings call that confirmed which developers would be working on the nextCall of Dutyand a bag ofDoritos chips that has apparently leaked the nextCall of Dutytitle and logo.

The Activision earnings call also mentioned thatthe nextCall of Dutywill have strong ties toCall of Duty: Warzoneand it seems like that crossover is slowly starting. Today, a player reported that a video interrupted aWarzonematch for a couple of seconds. The video was brief and purposely glitchy but players can clearly make out the video’s message that reads, “know your history.”
Call of Duty 2020, rumored to beCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warbased on the Doritos leak, seems to be getting a proper reveal very soon. This new video fromWarzone, plus various leaks and other teases are generating hype for the franchise’s next game. Although, the biggest piece of evidence that a reveal is right around the corner may be from ablack crate that has been sent toCall of Dutypartnerswhich comes with instructions to not open the crate until August 10 at 12 PM ET. Presumably this crate contains promotional and marketing material forCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warbut it doesn’t seem like anyone has broken the street date on this announcement yet, so fans will have to wait a few days.
Possibly in an attempt to get the most players playingCall of Duty: Modern Warfareto witness theBlack Ops Cold Warteases, Activision is making theModern Warfare’smultiplayer free for the weekend. If these video teases are going to pop up more often and across all game modes, Activision will surely want the maximum number of people to see the videos before the game is officially announced, just to drive up hype a little more.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
