After weeks of teasers, the official Call of Duty Blog unveiled concrete details aboutCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s next season of content today, the third since its integration with Activision’s battle royaleCall of Duty: Warzone. Four playable operators includingCaptain Price will be added intoBlack Ops Cold Warthroughout Season 3, though only him and Perseus agent Wraith will arrive right when the season begins on April 22.
New operators are just one part of the Season 3 update detailed byCall of Dutydevelopers. Six weapons are being added, with three coming toBlack Ops Cold Warduring launch week;four multiplayer maps and two new modes will become availablethroughout the season; and Zombies mode will get another Outbreak region, field upgrade, two vehicles, and additional intel for players to gather.

Meanwhile, a roadmap included in the Call of Duty Blog post details a map update coming toWarzonethat will coincide with a limited-time event across both games called “Hunt for Adler.” By completing in-game challenges, players can collect intel to learn more about the whereabouts ofBlack Opslead character Russell Adler, earning a new operator skin, weapon charms, calling cards, and more in the process. It begins alongsideSeason 3, which goes live following updates toBlack Ops Cold Warat 9:00 p.m. PT on April 20, and toWarzoneat 9:00 p.m. PT on April 21.
Many fans will likely be most interested in the beginning of theWarzone-centric content following thespread of Zombies and radiation across Verdanskduring Season 2, resulting from a tanker ship with “remnants of deadly biochemical weapons” running aground. The blog post promises Verdansk has hit a critical level and will “heat up in a big way” starting April 21 with Operation Rapid Sunder, with another post featuring more details to be released that afternoon at 12:00 p.m. PT.
Fans of the franchise also found out more about what they can expect with regards to the technical aspects of Season 3 via today’s blog post. Based on a user’s platform, between 8.1 and 13.1 GB of space will need to be allotted for new content inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War; while between 25.2 and 25.9 GB will need to be allotted inWarzone.
ModernCall of Dutytitles have had a history of issues with regards to the storage space needed for various content dumps in ongoing games. WhileModern WarfareandWarzonehave seen file size reductionsto mitigate these concerns, the addition ofBlack Ops Cold Warmakes the situation more unwieldy for some. Players should make sure they have enough room for these updates before they release later this week, and be prepared for the mid-season Reloaded update as well as whatever comes next.
