WhenBugsnaxlaunched in late 2020, it left its mark on the PlayStation brand. It arrived with the release of the PlayStation 5 console and was even offered as a PS Plus title, making it many PS5 buyers' first game on the console. What players found wasn’t just aPokemon-inspired monster collector like some had assumed, either. Rather, it’s a game with surprising depth and a compelling story. That makes it all the more exciting that a newBugsnaxexpansion has been announced during Wednesday’s State of Play.

Introducing Bigsnax, thenext chapter ofBugsnax. The DLC will include an entirely new biome to explore, new features like a living space that can be customized, and more. Current owners ofBugsnaxwill get the Bigsnax DLC entirely free.Bugsnaxplayers won’t have to wait long, either, because the Bigsnax DLC will be arriving in early 2022.

Bigsnax is, as its name implies, introducing a variety of new, enormousBugsnax. The DLC will introduce a dozen suchBugsnaxto the game, which will require players to shrink with a new Shrink Spice mechanic before they can be caught. The bigBugsnaxwill be found in a new biome for players to explore, said to contain some of the island’s long-forgotten history. Of course, along the way players will also get new stories for the player’sNPC friends Chandlo, Floofty, Triffany, and Shelda.

That’s just the start of the new content forBugsnaxplayers to discover, however. Bigsnax will also be unlocking new content in the form of hats forBugsnaxto wear, as well as furniture to adorn players' new homes in Snaxburg. These cosmetics can be earned through 100 new challenges, which can be accepted through the player’s mailbox, as well as 30 newBugsnaxquests. In all, there are almost 200 decorations to collect with Bigsnax’s release.

Players of all kinds will be able to participate in the Bigsnax DLC, too. It’s not a standalone DLC, so it’ll be built into currently existing saves. New players will be able to find all of the new content in a normal fashion. Those who havebeatBugsnaxcan use their post-game save files, which will reload before the game’s point of no return.

While the Isle of Bigsnax was revealed duringSony’s PlayStation State of Play event, the DLC is not exclusive. It’s also confirmed for the PC release ofBugsnax, which is currently available solely on the Epic Games Store. The DLC is confirmed for the Steam release ofBugsnax, too, depending on which arrives second in 2022. Expect more news on that next year.
