9The Council Of Eternity
Magic has always been present in the DC Universe, and considering Black Adam’s powers are of magic origin, it is no surprise that the council of wizards is seen. The council of Eternity is a group of seven extremely powerful wizards and beings that can bestow a champion with immense power, the power of Shazam.
Not only was the primary wizard known as Shazam a returning character fromShazam!but he was also played once again by Djimon Hounsou, furtherconnecting the DCEU. The council of Eternity gave Teth-Adam the powers of Shazam and later regretted their decision.
8Atom Smasher’s Relationship With Black Adam
It’s no secret that the majority of DC’sBlack Adamis about Teth-Adamversus the Justice Society. Atom Smasher even manages to crush Teth-Adam underneath his gigantic fist a few times. However, towards the end of the movie, Atom Smasher becomes noticeably more friendly to Teth-Adam, and even mentions that they should team up again.
This natural character development for the JSA’s newest recruit is not only a fun scene between two characters but is also the same path as the comics. Despite starting as enemies, Black Adam and Atom Smasher developed a kinship and became as close as brothers.
7DC Rebirth Comics
When audiences are introduced to Amon Tomaz, they learn that he is obsessed with superheroes. He practically mentions all members of the Justice League, and his room is filled with toys, posters, and comic books of the fan-favorite DC characters. One notable easter egg in his room and backpack is the fact that he has Rebirth comic books.

DC Rebirth was the relaunch that came after the rebooted universe with the New 52. It’s a fun easter egg to see DC Rebirth comics, as they have plenty of exciting storylines that deserve live-action adaptions, with a renowned focus on the superheroes audiences know and love.
6Eternium
One of the quiet easter eggs inBlack Adamis the importance of Eternium. This rare mineral is the name given to fragments of matter that were cast off from the Rock of Eternity. The Rock of Eternity is where Shazam and the wizards reside, as well as a secret base for all things magic. In the comics, this location was destroyed by Dr. Savant in a bid to annihilate magic from the universe, thus creating Eternium.
When it came to DCEU’sBlack Adam, Eternium is a mineral that exists only in Kahndaq, which is an alteration of origin, but its effects are the same. Eternium is rich with magic and is a weakness to those that have the power of Shazam, which is why it manages to harm Black Adam.
5The Original Atom Smasher
There’s a quick cameo from famed actor Henry Winkler, in which he uses facetime to talk to his nephew, the brand new Atom Smasher. Henry Winkler’s character is referred to as “Uncle Al,” and the legacy JSAcharacters like Hawkmanunderstand that this new Atom Smasher is the nephew of the original.
Albert Rothstein is the name of Atom Smasher. The one audiences see for the DC film is the current Atom Smasher, but the original is a fun addition, considering that the JSA has been a superhero team since World War 2; therefore, Atom Smasher would have to pass on his title and suit.
4Hawkman’s Logo
Hawkman may feature his hawk crest on his chest, but it is in a lot more detail than what audiences are used to. In the comics, Hawkman’s logo is a simple silhouette of a hawk head on a red background. This image is featured prominently not on his outfit but in his Nth Metal aircraft.
The original Hawkman logo can be found on Hawkman’s cockpit as well as his chair to indicate that this is where he alone can sit. It’s fun to see a homage to his classic logo, as, despite thegreatness of Aldis Hodge in the role, the suit is different from the comics.
3The Black Marvel Family
Everyone knows the Shazam Family and how Billy Batson shared his great powers as the champion with his foster siblings. A similar feat was gifted to Adrianna Tomaz and Amon Tomaz, which joined the Black Marvel Family. Here, they would take on the roles of Isis and Osiris, respectively.
These characters havegreat powerand are teased in DC’sBlack Adam, as the characters of Adrianna and Amon play important roles in the film and help develop a bond with Teth-Adam. They likely have a future in the DCEU, as both Isis and Osiris.
2Seated On The Throne
After the final confrontation between Sabbac, Teth-Adam, and the JSA, the heroes triumph, and they agree to leave Kahndaq in the hands of its protector, Black Adam. For a moment, Teth-Adam takes a seat on the destroyed throne of Kahndaq and tries to sit comfortably upon the powerful seat as its ruler. However, he declares that Kahndaq needs a protector, not a ruler, and destroys the throne.
In the comics, the iconic image ofDwayne Johnson’s Black Adamon the Kahndaq throne is directly taken in homage to the comics’ character. The way he sits and the structure of the throne has been seen in comics all over. An image of power and contemplation, the comics feature Black Adam as Kahndaq’s king.
1S.H.A.Z.A.M!
When audiences were introduced to Billy Batson, he bestowed the powers of Shazam. Despite the cool title, it is an acronym for the Greek gods. The Wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury. Combined, it spells SHAZAM. However, Teth-Adam’s power comes from the same wizard but with the Egyptian gods.
It’s a quick but great reference to the comics, in which Teth-Adam’s version of Shazam is from his own culture rather than the Greek gods. For Black Adam, Shu is the god of air, Hershef is the god of strength, Amon is the king of the gods, Zehuti is the god of wisdom, Anpu is the conductor of the dead, and Menthu is the god of war, thus, SHAZAM.
