TheTales ofseriesis back withTales of Arise. The game has a familiar feel to it, yet also breathes new life into a series that was slowly being forgotten by gamers. As with most action role-playing games, there are many items to find and use. Some of the most important of these items are the consumables.

What are consumables? Well, they are items that are generally one-use items - the best example of this type of item in gaming is the standard healing potion. You use it once, and then it’s gone forever. A lot of players have a tendency to hoard these items; especially the consumables that permanently raise stats or grant permanent abilities. Just remember, most of these items are not unique (though they may be rare) - so don’t be afraid to use them. One last thing to note, items with similar effects, such as Orange Gel, Pineapple Gel, and Gold Gel, will be condensed into one entry.
10Happy Bottle
The description of the Happy Bottle is, “A euphoric concoction that brings good luck when consumed, greatly increasing the Battle Chain Bonus Gauge”. InTales of Arise, performing long chains of combos in battle is everything. Not only do these combos look impressive, but against some of the tougher boss battles they are the key to victory.
There is a gauge that fills when you perform well in battle - this is the Battle Chain Bonus Gauge. A full gauge will help you level up your characters faster, get new skills faster, and find better items. The Happy bottle gives a boost to this gauge.
9Elixirs
Some of the boss battles inTales of Ariselast a long time. In games such as this, the longer a battle lasts the greater the chance that one (or some) of your characters will be KO’d. Additionally, no matter how honed your skills are your characters are going to take damage.
The Elixir fully heals a character, cures physical ailments, and revives them if KO’d. The Omega Elixir fully healsthe entire party, cures physical ailments, and revives any party members that have been KO’d. Elixirs are important items to have during those long, drawn-out boss battles.
8Orange Gel
InTales of Arisethere are specialcombat moves called Artes. In order foryour characters to usetheir Artes requires a resource called CP (Cure Points). As important a role as battle plays in this game, it stands to reason that CP is an extremely valuable resource - more so than Gald possibly.
There are only a few ways to restore your CP points. A few ways are via camping and staying at an inn; though, to restore CP quickly in battle you have to use Orange Gel. This consumable restores 30% of your CP points. Pineapple Gel restores 60% of your CP, and Gold Gel restores 100%.
7Lavender
Lavender, inTales of Arise, does more than just possess a pleasing scent. Using the Lavender consumable increases the user’s Attack stat. This is a permanent increase, too. Given thelimited number of consumables you are allowed to carry, don’t be afraid to use these when you get them.

Lavender is good, but Red Lavender is what you want. Red Lavender greatly increases the user’s attack, and again, this increase is permanent. In a game as focused on combat asTales of Arise, a permanent boost to a character’s attack is worth more than gold - or Gald.
6Rosemary
The elements play an important role inTales of Arise. There are six elements in the game - Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, Light, and Dark. The system works much as it does ingames likePokemon, with some elemental attacks being stronger against other element types. Water against Fire is a prime example.
Rosemary permanently increases the user’s Elemental Attack stat. This allows for harder hits against a vulnerable element type. This helps battles end a little quicker; which mitigates the chance of one of your characters getting KO’d. Red Rosemary greatly increases the user’s Elemental Attack.
5Jasmine
InTales of Arise, Jasmine raises the user’s Endurance permanently. There is some confusion among players as to what Endurance does in this game. Many confuse it with Resistance (which we’ll get to), and there is scant information out there, or in-game, as to what Endurance does.
Endurance increases the rate at which your AG refills. For newcomers to the game, AG stands for “Artes Gauge”. This gauge plays an important role in battle - especially for those looking for extended combo chains. Red Jasmine increases the user’s Resistance. Resistance prevents enemies from scoring critical hits and interrupts on a character.
4Saffron
Whereas rosemary raises Elemental Attack, Saffron raises the user’s Elemental Defense. This, as you might suspect, helps your characters survive attacks that carry the element they are weak against. A high Elemental Defense is incredibly valuable for increasing your characters' longevity in battle.

The more of these you have your characters consume, the less you’ll have to rely on items like Elixirs. The inverse of that old saying, “A good offense is the best defense”, is just as true. Red Saffron greatly increases the user’s Elemental Defense.
3Chamomile
Chamomile is not just a type of tea inTales of Arise. Consuming Chamomile in-game gives a permanent increase to the user’s Penetration stat. So, what does the Penetration stat do? This stat influences your characters' ability to interrupt enemy actions. Penetration also governs the frequency of critical hits - a higher Penetration stat equals more critical hits in battle (and more damage). Interrupts are especially useful in boss battles, since bosses canunleash some powerful maneuvers.
You’ll definitely want to visit some mining points looking for this consumable. Keep a lookout for Red Chamomile too; which greatly increases the Penetration stat.
2Verbena
Verbena raises the user’s Defense stat. This consumable is probably the least sought-after among the herbs. With so much focus on battle inTales of Arise, many players will prefer to raise attack stats, work on getting new Artes and skills, and trying for ever longer combo chains. Defense is something that tends to be forgotten about (or marginalized); not just in this game either, but most action role-playing games.
Red Verbena greatly increases the user’s Defense stat. Use Verbena when you find it - don’t hoard these. The slots in your inventory are better used for items like Elixirs and Orange Gel.
1Sage
This might be the most useful consumable inTales of Arise. Sage increases the user’s maximum HP (hit points). The value of this is self-evident. The more hit points your characters have, the better chance they have of surviving a difficult battle. You really can’t put a price on increasing your maximum hit points, and the fact that you may’t buy this in-game reinforces this notion. These are obtained at mining points, like all items on this list can be, and can also be obtained via Training Ground Battles.
Red Sage…wait for it…greatly increases the user’s HP maximum. Happy mining!
