Among the many things players can get inGenshin Impact, one of the available collectibles is books. Some of them consist of one volume, while some others require some effort to collect. Either way, each title contains a story that players can enjoy. Whether it’s a history of Teyvat or a simple childhood fairytale,Genshin Impactbooks have it all.
8Tales From the Waves
As the title may have hinted, this story revolves around a sea captain. The main character, theSkipper, is based on a real-life person that lived around 1,000 years ago. Before his death, Skipper seeks vengeance against a certain sea monster. This book explains why.
It tells the tales of his feat upon the sea, and his relation with his navigator, a young maiden with a sweet voice that would sing a shanty as they sailed. Through the calm water and the storm, her song always echoes in the wind, and so bear not the Skipper to lose her.
7Moonlit Bamboo Forest
Moonlit Bamboo Forest narrates a tale of a young boy that got lostin the bamboo forest of Mt. Qingce. The story brings back memories of the boy when their elder recounts various legends, filled with warnings to keep children in line.

In this forest, he encountered a woman garbed in white. He tried to recall the elder’s words to figure out who orwhatthe woman was, but he couldn’t find any conclusion. The woman led the boy out of the forest, telling a tale of the three moons as she did.
6Legend Of The Lone Sword
This book is four volumes long, but many players may have expected more. It tells a story of a swordsman who attempted to get his revenge. Though the tale is quite short, the star of the show is its diction. Considering the book is translated from its Chinese counterpart, it’s always amusing to see how the writers manage to keep the poetic aspect of the original.
Three volumes of Legend of the Lone Sword can be obtained for free, while the finalvolume is purchasable from the Wanwen Bookhousefor 3,000 Mora.
5Heart’s Desire
Each region in Teyvat has its own antique shop, so it’s no surprise that there’s a legend that revolves around them. It is said that there exists a mysterious antique shop, one that can be found by doing a specific action. The owner is one with “fox-like eyes with slender lines for pupils.”

For those who love diving into the lore ofGenshin Impact, they will find that this shop contains many references to existing in-game items. Mere embellishments to the mystery that shrouds the store and its owner.
4Heart Of Clear Springs
Heart of Clear Springs is thefolklore of Springvale. It recounts the tale of a young boy who met a Spring Fairy. The fairy learns a lot from the human, and they quickly become friends. However, being an immortal being, the lochfolk eventually has to let the mortal go.
This book is quite melancholic, where it highly emphasizes the contrast of two different worlds; of how immortality can lead to solitude, while transience leads to life-long regret.
3Diary Of Roald The Adventurer
WhenGenshin Impactwas first released, the wordRoaldwas none but a name. Travelers would often find his diary all over Mondstadt and Liyue, where most books lie owner less in a camp or tent alike. Finally, in Version 2.2, along with the release ofTsurumi Island inGenshin Impact, miHoYo puts a face to the name.
Roald’s diary recounts his experience as he went on adventures throughout Teyvat. Most of his writings are highly accurate, but one thing Roald always did wrong iskeephis notes. The adventurer writes because of his poor memory, but that too leads to him forgetting his diary. That’s one person Qiqi can relate to.
2Ballads Of The Squire
In the old Mondstadt led by aristocracy, the knights were the defenders of the city. But who can claim to be a protector when the one they protect is the oppressor? This is something Ragnvindr continues to reckon until he meets the Swordswoman.

This book is only two chapters long, but if players take the time to read it, they’ll find themselves digging more into the Wanderer’s Troupe lore. It tells the story of Ragnvindr (Diluc’s ancestor), who was then a mere squire. His later title, theDawn Knight, is directly taken from the Dawnlight Swordswoman.
1The Boar Princess
The Boar Princess is a children’s book that may seem really…peculiar to read. Most lines in the story involve onomatopoeias of animal “noises”, which is likely why it’s considered a book for kids. Each volume will be accompanied by a little note from the father-daughter pair, Rudolf and Lily.
For those who stop reading midway, then they really should consider finishing the story. After all, the best part of the book lies in the last few lines of the fable. Why else would Rudolf donate the book to the library after completing it?
Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
