Electronic Arts and DICE releasedBattlefield 2042last month, but fans of the game reportedly have a little while to wait before the first season releases. AlthoughCall of Duty: Vanguardfans are already delving into the latest Activision Blizzard title’s first Season,Battlefield 2042players will likely be waiting months for Season 1.
According to a dataminer known as Temporyal on Twitter,Battlefield 2042Season 1 kicks off at some point in March. Temporyal has also stated thatBattlefield 2042’s latest client shows twelve preseason weeks leading up to the release of Season 1 which will each include missions. TheBattlefield 2042dataminer has also stated that DICE may have allowed for a buffer of a few weeks, suggesting that Season 1 could begin sooner than the data suggests.

Just like any season of a live-service game,Battlefield 2042is expected to get new fixesand additional content as part of its first season. DICE has already confirmed that theBattlefield 2042content drop will include a new map known as Exposure that takes place in a Canada-US research base in British Columbia. Season 1 may also include new Specialists, weapons, and game modes, while also offering its own content pipeline through a Battle Pass.
The newBattlefield 2042Exposure mapwas formerly known as Ridge, according to Temporyal, suggesting Ridge was the working title of the new location. According to the Exposure storyline leaked by Temporyal, US forces claim that the Russians wrongly sent troops to Canada on the basis that a military weapon was uncovered by a landslide. On the other hand, the Russian military is firm in its belief that this Black Ridge research facility is a risk to their national security and the area needs to be secured.
DespiteBattlefield 2042’s strong initial sales, the game launched in a state that sparked review bombs on Metacritic and a negative fan response on social media. One of the issues that may have caused some problems withBattlefield 2042’s development is the DICE team working on it not having enough time even though the game had been previously delayed. Since the release ofBattlefield 2042, theHead of Design has left DICEwhich may cause some design changes in future seasons of the live-service FPS.
AlthoughBattlefield 2042fans have a while to wait before the release of Season 1, the game was recently updated with new Holiday content. The update included a new infected-style game mode where a horde of elves tries to overtake a group of Santa Clauses, a new melee weapon and grappling hook, a winter-themed player card and emblem, and the addition of a 64-player Conquest. The"Attack of the Elves"Battlefield 2042modeis likely to disappear upon the conclusion of this year’s holidays, but it remains to be seen whether or not the smaller team Conquest mode will remain inBattlefield 2042moving forward.
