AlthoughBattlefield 2042is available to early access players, those on Xbox Series X should probably wait a while, as dozens of players are reporting the title crashes the Xbox console and shuts it off completely. The news isn’t entirely surprising, asBattlefield 2042’sbeta was full of issues, and it was reportedBattlefield 2042won’t be able to fix the frame rate issuesin time for launch.

On EA’s support forum where there are over 300 replies, early access players are sharing their frustration over the consistent crashes experienced playingBattlefield 2042. The crashes shut down the entire console and appear to occur at random, happening a few minutes into the match or at the end. EA has responded, attempting to troubleshoot some of the issues. After 200 replies, EA updated the thread stating it is aware of the issue and an “optional” update will be made available to all Xbox Series X players on November 17th, two days before the official release.
Confusingly, EA has also stated that “players can already download this update in the OMEGA Ring as part of the Xbox Insider Program.” The way the sentence was phrased made it seem as though the optional update available on November 17th is the same one that is available now. Some players have asked EA for clarification as to whether or not the update on the 17th is actually the same, as it hasn’t resolved the issues for most players.
The forum was initially created on Thursday, with some players claiming they haven’t been able to enjoy any full matches after preordering the upgradedBattlefield 2042editions. If the optional update on November 17th is different than the update via Xbox Insider and it actually works, that will only leave players with two days of early access when initially promised an entire week. Crashes aren’t the only problem, either, asBattlefield 2042players are reacting to the game’s various issuesincluding framerate.
Battlefield 2042is still in early access, but with five days to release, it’s highly unlikely that there will be any large updates that will fix most of the issues players are experiencing. Still, theBattlefield 2042beta drew in many players, and although some are experiencing issues, they’re still having fun with the title. Whatever criticismsBattlefield 2042is receiving at the moment might not dissuade some players from purchasing the anticipated FPS.
Battlefield 2042releases November 19 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
