Disneyfirst mentioned its intentions of adaptingBambiin 2020, where they also revealed Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer would take on the role of writers, with the Weitz Brothers' Depth of Field company coming on to produce the picture. Since then, little information has been shared about the project, including a possible release date or cast. Furthermore, there has been no word on how far the film is as of now, and no updates or movement are expected given the ongoing writers' strikes and increased tensions between SAG-AFTRA (the Screen Actors Guild- American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and major Hollywood studios.

Bambiwas the fifth animated feature to come from Disney in 1942. The film received many accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Sound, Song, and Original Score. The film has also inspired other future projects, such as the upcoming horror film of the same name.
