Summary
Baldur’s Gate 3has revealed a first look at what players can expect from Patch #7, and the key additions happen to be improved evil endings, as well as the launch of the game’s official modding tools. Despite releasing in a stacked year defined by several major titles,Baldur’s Gate 3made history by winning Game of the Year at every major awards show. It brought the isometric RPG genre to a mainstream audience, and succeeded in living up to the tremendous legacy ofBaldur’s Gate 2.
However, Larian Studios did not rest on its laurels, and continued refining the lackluster elements of the game. With Patch #5, the developers famously provided anepilogue toBaldur’s Gate 3, while Patch #6 improved on character romance content. By contrast, Patch #7 is meant to be the other side of the coin compared to Patch #5, and it will introduce several new scenes for players who finished an evil playthrough ofBaldur’s Gate 3. These new epilogue scenes will account for both regular characters and the Dark Urge, featuring new music composed by Borislav Slavov, the award-winning composer ofBaldur’s Gate 3andDivinity: Original Sin 2.
Patch #7 Brings Evil Endings and Official Modding Tools to Baldur’s Gate 3
The highlights of Patch #7 wereposted on Steam by Larian Studios, and it also features a message of eternal gratitude to fans, both newcomers and Early Access veterans. While the enhanced evil endings are indisputably the highlight of Patch #7, thenewBaldur’s Gate 3updatealso brings something that will ensure the game’s longevity for many years to come: official modding tools. While the modding community forBaldur’s Gate 3was already thriving, the official tools will make it easier for players to overhaul the game into a tailor-made experience.
Patch #7 will also bring a laundry list of technical fixes to the game. Jaheira will no longer randomly jump into combat, and Wyll’s conversation greetings to characters who are romancing him will also be improved. Furthermore, the Narrator will no longer disappear in pivotal scenes, such as during the confrontation between the Dark Urge andGortash in the third Act ofBaldur’s Gate 3.
Beyond Patch #7, Larian Studios has announced that the developers are working to bring Crossplay and a Photo Mode toBaldur’s Gate 3. However, it may still be some time until those features come to the Sword Coast. WhileBaldur’s Gate 3will not have any major DLCsor story expansions, nor will it have a sequel helmed by Larian Studios, the developers have already begun work on two new projects, and Larian can’t wait to unveil its upcoming games to the public in the (hopefully near) future.
