It finds itself sandwiched betweenUncharted 2: Among ThievesandResident Evil 4, two games many point to as two of the best the industry has ever seen, so it’s not likeBaldur’s Gate 3has gotten any negative reviews. In fact, 100% of the critic reviews forBaldur’s Gate 3have been positive, though some publications gave it 9/10 instead of 10/10. The PS5 version ofBaldur’s Gate 3is set to launch on September 6, and because of the way Metacritic categorizes games, it will be treated as a completely separate entity from the PC version. IfBaldur’s Gate 3on PS5earns enough positive reviews, so it could potentially return the game to the top 10 highest-rated games of all time list. And if that fails, Larian will have a third chance with the Xbox version ofBaldur’s Gate 3, though that’s currently without a release date.
While the top 10 is more prestigious,Baldur’s Gate 3being in the top 30 highest-rated games of all time is still an incredible accomplishment. TheBaldur’s Gatefranchise in general has been one mega hit after another, withBaldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amnfinding itself in the top 100.Baldur’s Gate 1earned near-universal critical acclaim at the time of its original release as well, making theBaldur’s Gatetrilogyone of the highest-rated trilogy of games of all time.
