Summary

Ubisoft revealed the PC system requirements forAssassin’s Creed Mirage, having done so some six weeks ahead of the game’s release. WhileAssassin’s Creed Miragepromises a return to the series' roots, its newly shared specs list confirms it will also continue pushing the envelope in terms of PC hardware demands.

Assassin’s Creedtitles have historically shipped with fairly high system requirements, which tend to go hand-in-hand with games that seek to pioneer new levels of graphical fidelity. Prior to today, that trend was most recently underlined byAssassin’s Creed Valhallabeing one of the most demanding PC games of 2020.

Compared to its predecessor,Miragewill necessitate an even stronger PC rig in every respect but one, as its minimum system requirements still mandate only 8GB of RAM. But every other component demand from Ubisoft underwent an upgrade across all performance categories, with the GPU VRAM requirements going up by at least 2GB across the board. The newly shared PC specs list also reveals thatAssassin’s Creed Miragewill need at least a 2017 mid-range CPU in the form of the Intel i5 8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage PC System Requirements

And though Ubisoft was already recommending SSDs forValhalla,Miragewill be the first-everAssassin’s Creedgame to insist on one. While this doesn’t necessarily mean that the game will be impossible to run from a traditional HDD, the requirement confirms that Ubisoft won’t offer troubleshooting support for PC rigs without a solid-state disk.

Many recentAAA games likeStarfieldalso launched with an SSD mandatesince the turn of the year, so this particular condition isn’t exactly surprising. CDPR even upgraded theCyberpunk 2077system requirements back in June in order to stop supporting HDDs with its 2020 RPG, so PC gamers who haven’t yet accepted SSDs as the new normal are advised to do so.

Looking at the bigger picture,Assassin’s CreedMiragewon’t necessitate a more expensive rig thanValhalladid three years ago, as the differences in their system requirements are pretty uniform across the board and mostly reflect the gap in their release dates. For example, someone who bought or built ahigh-end gaming PCfive years ago should still be able to hit 60 frames per second at a 1440p resolution with mostly maxed graphics settings. Ditto for anyone who recently spent around $1,000 on a mid-range gaming rig. The latest Nvidia and AMD GPUs aren’t even necessary for a 4K experience at 60fps, with the Ultra category ofMirage’ssystem requirements only listing 2020 hardware.

Assassin’s Creed Miragereleases October 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. An iPhone 15 Pro port is slated for early 2024.
