Trailers are already precursors to films, and adding another promotion before the official trailer drops seems like overkill. Fans aren’t the only ones who believe this.

DC fans have waited 5 years for another solo movie with Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry. Though not everyone was on board with the silly and borderline slapstick comedy,Aquaman 2is among the few DC movies people are excited about. After theWonder Woman 1984debacle and Ezra Miller’s controversies effectivelyruining the cursedThe Flashfilm,Aquamanis a shining light for what DC movies should be — not gritty and realistic, a celebration of a man who controls fish and an octopus that plays the drums. The only issue is how many times DC delayed theAquamansequel.
Now more than ever,Aquamanis needed to make people forget about the world’s ills. While theAquaman 2release dateis still slated for December 2023, fans fear Warner Bros. will delay the sequel further. Even worse is pushing off the release of a trailer by reminding fans that a trailer is on the way. Wan, the master of horror, doesn’t support the entertainment industry’s annoying habit.
Enough is enough, and it’s probably time to put a moratorium on extra promotional material for films. Though DC likely intends tohype fans up forAquaman’s new adventure, they have already done that by pushing the release so much. Viewers who are passionate about this installment are well aware of when the film will be coming and have no interest in an update about the release of theAquaman 2trailer. Trailers, by design, already give so much away that when going into the film, viewers feel as though they have already seen it. Let’s do everyone a favor and drop a trailer when it drops. Not before.
