Full disclosure right from the start, animeis weird. That’s not a bug, it’s a feature, and that’s one of the reasons that people like it so much. Settings are surreal, and characters are unique, often defined by their abilities and their weapons.

Some villains have some of the most unconventional weapons, which often means guns or swords with ethereal or creative designs. However, it can also refer to weapons that are normally not seen as weapons at all but natural extensions of the bad guy’s powers or role in the story.

7The Third Arm of Justice - Afro Samurai

The tale ofAfro Samuraibegins with a crushing defeat. The protagonist’s father,a noble and powerful samurai, falls in battle with a character named Justice, who looks like the undead version of an old-timey western sheriff armed with two six guns.

The audience doesn’t find out exactly what happened in the fight until the end of the movie. Spoiler alert, but the guns were a distraction. Justice had a hidden weapon in the form of a third arm that grew out of his back and wielded a sword. Nothing fancy, but unexpected and weird.

6Yagami Light - The Death Note

One of the most notorious villains in anime history, and easily one with one of the highest body counts as well, Yagami’s Light hardly ever even touched conventional weapons like guns or swords because he didn’t need them.

It wasn’t just that the notebook could be used to kill people; it was also that Light was a genius and manipulated the rules of theDeath Notewith such expertise. His powers of emotional manipulation are deadly all on their own, and combined with the notebook of the Shinigami, he becomes that much more dangerous.

5Shizuku Murasaki’s Vacuum Cleaner - Hunter X Hunter

It’s a deadly weapon, but it’s hardly ever used as one. The vacuum cleaner has a name, Blinky, and it’s the property of Shizuku Murasaki, a member of the deadly and dangerous Phantom Troupe, a group of thieves that serve as the main antagonists inHunter X Hunter.

Blinky looks normal, even cute, but it has nasty teeth, and once it eats something, it’sgone forever into some nameless void. It doesn’t work on living things or conjured objects, but it’s great for cleaning up crime scenes and the aftermath of fights, which is it’s most common use.

4Corset’s Bondage Techniques - Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt

Of course, a show as bizarre asPanty And Stocking With Garterbeltwould also have a villain with an equally strange weapon. Corset is his name, and bondage is his game, and when he whips out those belts and other accessories, they can be used as weapons themselves, and they can also pick up other characters and use them as bludgeoning tools.

Corset is the main antagonist of the show and is cast in the role of one of those pesky authority figures. Not only is he the mayor of Daten City but also the boss of the demon sisters, Scanty and Kneesocks, who also antagonize our intrepid heroes.

3Mutant Meister Crona and Ragnorok - Soul Eater

Initially a villain, he was forced into evil actions against his will. His name is Crona, and he eventually turns against his mother, Medusa Gorgon, who manipulated both him and his sword to be mutated monsters capable of summoning a deadly creature called a Kishin.

All of themeister partners that turn into weaponshave their own customized and unique powers, but Ragnorok was changed using a vat of the black blood and was then fused with Crona’s blood, making the two the same being. It’s weird that this being pops out of Crona’s back and then berates him like a schoolyard bully before he turns into a normal-looking sword.

Hunter X Hunter - Phantom Troupe Member Shizuku Using Her Nen Vacuum To Clean Up After Their Killings

It’s hard to pin down villains in Studio Ghibli movies, and they often aren’t present at all, but the character of Jigo inPrincess Mononokeis pretty close. More of a spy than a Monk, Jigo has been tasked by the Emporer to retrieve the head of the Great Forest Spirit, who thinks possessing the head will make him immortal.

Jigo manages to grab the head, at least for a short time, but it’s enough for him to understand that, separated from its owner, the head becomes a deadly weapon. It’s leaking blood everywhere, and the blood of the Great Forest Spirit takes the life of anything living that touches it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t discriminate, and it kills his allies as well as being a danger to his enemies.

1Mr. 5’s Biological Weapons - One Piece

Not only is it weird, but it’s also gross, and maybe that cringe factor is its real power. This character is also known as Gem of the Border, and Mr. 5 is his more well-known alias, and neither of these names gives a clue to the nature of his weird and disgusting weapon.

Mr. 5’s devil-fruit power is that any part of his body, when used as a projectile, has the power to explode and detonates on impact. It seems like a cool power, and this villain uses it in an effective but silly way by flecking boogers at his opponents. When he uses his breath as bullets in his gun, that’s a great idea and very cool, but this flinging of phlegm is better as occasional comic relief than a real weapon.
