During a live event,AMDannounced the tech conglomerate will be releasing two new GPU products which will utilize its new RDNA 3 architecture. WithNvidia launching its RTX 4090 card recently, the race is on for both team red and team green to be the head honcho of the graphical hardware market. A lot of PC gamers will have been waiting for Dr. Lisa Su and her team to unveil what the company has in store for the next generation of cards.
Whilegraphics cards were starting to come down in cost earlier this year, purchasing a brand-new GPU is still pretty pricey for many, though new-gen generally makes predecessors a little cheaper. Much of the PC gaming world is still reeling from the effects of the tech shortages that plagued the industry a couple of years ago, which meant that Nvidia’s Ampere and AMD’s RDNA 2 range were difficult to come by. Fortunately, things have improved since then, but there still seems to be a way to go.

That aside, many fans will be excited about the newAMDgraphics cards. During the broadcast, Su announced the company will be launching the RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX GPUs. The latter of these cards is said to be 1.7 times more powerful than RDNA 2’s flagship release. It was also unveiled, by Senior Vice President and General Manager Scott Herkelman, that purchasers of the 7900 series would not need to buy a new power adapter, a revelation that was met with quiet cheers from the live audience. Both the 7900 XTX and 7900 XT will launch December 13, priced at $999 and $899, respectively.
With theRDNA 2 powering Valve’s Steam Deck, as well as team red offering FidelityFX Super Resolution, its open-source upscaling technology that rivals team green’s DLSS, AMD offers up a real alternative to Nvidia. Speaking of upscaling, AMD also announced that FSR 3, the next generation of the tech, would be rolling out to PC gamers in 2023.
Given thatIntel finally launched its Arc graphics cards, the GPU market is likely going to get even more competitive. OnceAMDreleases RDNA 3 to the world, gamers will have more choice when it comes to powering their custom rigs. Of course, it’s not a cheap hobby, but games are becoming much more hardware intense, so PC enthusiasts are often on the lookout for the best graphics cards at the best prices. While team blue is now in the race, it seems to be lagging behind, especially after the delay, but the other two will always be at loggerheads when it comes to graphics technology.
