Activision, like Riot Games, Ubisoft, and many others before it, is getting in on Twitch’s incredibly popular drops system once again. In celebration of the launch of the Season 4 Reloaded update, Activision is enabling drops from July 9 through July 16 for those who watchCall of Duty: Modern WarfareandCall of Duty: Warzone.Call of Dutyplayers simply need to have theirCall of Dutyaccount linked to their Twitch account and then they can start earning prizes.
Here’s how the drops will work during the current week-long event. Basically, rather than pure randomization for drops, Twitch viewers will get rewards just for watching a certain amount of time. One hour of watching earns the “Censory Overload” spray. Two hours of watching earns the “Love the Bomb” emblem. And watching three hours ofCall of Duty: Modern WarfareorWarzoneearns the “Bloodstream” assault rifle weapon blueprint.

Bloodstream is, obviously, what mostCall of Dutyplayers will have their eye on. The Bloodstream is anAssault Rifle Julietblueprint with good control and accuracy, making it a strong mid-range option. It also features the Sleight of Hand weapon perk, which reduces the time spent reloading by half. It also sports a Tac Laser for great hip shooting.
Ultimately, the rewards aren’t incredibly compelling. But they’re still interesting, and better yet they’re very easy to acquire. That’s especially true forCall of Dutyplayers who already routinely watchModern WarfareorWarzoneon Twitch. Getting rewards for doing something you were already doing is awesome. And this is just the latest example of what’s likely to be many more drop events from Activision going forward.
This isn’t the first time thatActivisionhas done drops forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, as most players know. In April, Activision did a similar promotion with different rewards, including a “Crimson Standard” watch for viewing three hours. A pace of drops every 2-3 months seems slow, but it’s better than nothing.
