Despite a multiplayer mode that is causing fans to erupt over microtransactions, the campaign ofHalo Infinitehas had some better initial reception. Abandoning thepreceeding plotline set inHalo 5: Guardians,Infinite’scampaign seeks to complete a soft reboot of theHalofranchise, going fully in its own direction and sharing the story of shattered factions all fighting for control of a Halo ring, a simplistic initial setup.
From an open-world map that departs from the usual linear set piece missions ofHalogames prior, to the inclusion of a grappling hook,Halo Infinitehas given its campaign unique elements compared to previous titles, though a few new additions have not managed to unite theHalofanbase in supporting theHalo Infinitecampaign. There have been some parts of the campaign that could do with fixing, such as adding in options to replay missions and bringing back dual-wielding so that Master Chief can more easily gun down the hundreds of aliens necessary for taking Zeta Halo.

Besides the good and the bad, there’s the forgotten elements ofHalo Infinite. The campaign ofHalo Infinitehas a grand amount of detail, with small nods and references scattered throughout the open-world environment, such as an Easter egg that addresses the infamous “Craig the Brute” meme that arrived as a result of disappointing graphics seen in the initial gameplay reveal forInfinite. Alongside this detail though, some things were missed out, such as a mid-credits cutscene that has only just now been unveiled.
Brought to fans' attention by YouTuber Gamecheat13, the cinematic is only around thirty seconds long, and unlike the mid-credits scenes of Marvel films it doesn’t fully confirm or deny anything. Master Chief is unfortunately not asked by Nick Fury to join the Avengers, yet there is one detail that has caused wild speculation amongHalofans. The pilot brings Master Chief to look at something he’s noticed shortly after waking up, only for the following audio to be heard: “UNSC Tag detected. Designation friend.”
Many fans have theories as to what this short line may mean. Some believe that it is a reference to the co-op aspect ofHalo Infinite’scampaign, while others think it has something to do with the live service singleplayer content coming toInfinite.Among these major theories there are a few others, such as one fan who believes the mid-credits scene indicates a return of the Arbiter, who has been missing fromInfinitebesides a small Easter egg. Whatever this scene means only time will tell, as it was removed from the game for unknown reasons, there’s no telling what may or may not make it to the game.
