Recently,Dan Harmon said aCommunitymoviecould definitely happen. He toldThe Wrap, “There’s a story – who knows if we’ll end up sticking to it, but it was something we had to compile in order to take it out and court various venues. And now negotiations happen.” Harmon also said the film is a “matter of when and not if.”

This is great news for fans of the sitcom, which aired for five seasons from 2009 to 2015. Since the final season of the series isn’t an absolute favorite, it would be great for the characters to come back and for the story to wrap up in another way. But aCommunitymovie only works if the entire cast can come back.

SeveralCommunitycast members have expressed interest in being part of the project and have talked about a potential movie over the past few years. In 2019, Alison Brie toldPopCulture.comthat she would portray Annie Edison in a film and wanted the movie to be on a popular streaming service. Brie also said that she wants the entire cast to come back. Brie explained, “I feel like if theCommunitymovie ever gets made, it should just be made for Netflix, and it would be fun to do, but, I think it would be best if we could get everyone to do it, so I feel like that might be difficult.”

In 2020, Gillian Jacobs said on People TV’sCouch Surfingthat if there is a film, Britta Perry should experience ““Incremental growth.” Jacobs continued, “I mean, I wouldn’t want her to have figured everything out, just a little bit. I hope she’s figured out one more thing. But it wouldn’t be really fun if she was suddenly like a person who had it all together,” according toEntertainment Weekly.

Season 6 ofCommunityaired on Yahoo! Screen and didn’t feel like it had quite the same magic as the previous seasons. It’s considered asitcom that could have remained canceledas some main characters didn’t come back for these episodes. This proves that if there is a movie, the whole cast does have to return in order for it to work and to feel as flawless as the first few seasons did.

Communityhas long been considered one of thebest sitcomsand that’s all thanks to the friendship between the main characters. It’s also asitcom with great character development. Watching studious Annie bond with confident Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) sarcastic Britta, sweet and pop culture obsessed Abed Nadir (Danny Pudi), charming Troy Barnes (Donald Glover), hilarious Shirley Bennett (Yvette Nicole Brown), and strange Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase) is both fun and tugs at the heartstrings. The characters have nothing in common besides ending up at the same community college, and their study group allows them to feel like they can master their classes while connecting with each other.

It would definitely be tough to watch aCommunitymovie without everyone because the cast is so strong and talented. Most of all, it’s the Abed/Troy scenes that fans love the most. The two characters love and understand each other and help each other become braver and more secure. They encourage each other to have fun, be themselves, and achieve their dreams. When theCommunitycast did a table readin 2020, fans loved it because there is such chemistry there, and that just proves how much fans love seeing these silly, quirky characters interacting.

The best episodes ofCommunityinvolve all of the characters in goofy situations. In the season 1 episode “Contemporary American Poultry,” Jeff wants the study group to have the cafeteria’s chicken fingers as a snack, which everyone loves. It devolves into a chaotic, hilarious situation that could only happen here. The paintball episodes are also fan favorites as nothing can compare to how intense they are. These are the kinds of stories that aCommunitymovie needs to bring back.

When a movie is made based on a familiar and beloved TV show, fans are looking for the characters and types of storylines that they have been used to. It’s all about nostalgia and that’s what the movie needs to deliver.Pretty Little Liars: OriginalSin is a great rebootbecause it gives fans something new while honoring what came before and maintaining the same vibe. IfCommunitydoes become a movie, it will be disappointing if not everyone can return, as the other cast members will have to spend a lot of time explaining why these other people aren’t here. That will feel odd and distracting as the film needs to capture the original funny magic that brought fans to this show in the first place.
