Topics like the origins of demons, the true nature of Kibutsuji Muzan’s powers, and the back story of the Upper Moon One have been called into question on several occasions. Here are some of the most significant mysteries of theDemon Slayeranime, and the significant possibilities and theories surrounding each of them.
6The Demon Slayer Mark
The sudden and unknown power-up that Tanjiro acquired in the fight against Gyutaro in the Entertainment District arc was a shock to viewers around the world. His scar seemed to get bigger, and he got increasingly stronger and faster. Turns out it’s calledactivating a demon slayer mark, and the mark can only be activated when a demon slayer that has come in contact with an already marked individual achieves a heart rate of 200 beats per minute and a body temperature of 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a fatal condition for most people.
It gives them an extra sensory ability which allows them to see the inner workings of their opponents and see their surroundings in slow motion, increasing their speed. The progenitor of breathing styles and marked individuals is Yoriichi Tsugukuni, and he was the only person to be born with it.
5The Origin Of Demons
The Blue Spider Lily cure was supposed to be a dream come true for a frail and sickly Kibutsuji Muzan. The incomplete cure that was administered only turned him into ahuman-eating monster with immortalityand a weakness for sunlight. Of course, his family members were the first victims of his new flesh-eating tendencies, and he showed no remorse as regards it so long as his life-threatening ailment was now behind him.

He turned countless other people into demons and created a group of elite demons called the Upper Moon to achieve his aim of recovering a blooming bud of the very rare Blue Spider Lily. Muzan’s main goal is to complete the cure, which will enable him to walk under the sun with no consequences.
4The Identity Of Upper Moon One
The Upper Moon One’sappearance was nothing short of an iconic moment in the anime, with his six eyes, what appears to be demon slayer marks on his face, and his nichirin sword, which he used to cut Akaza’s hand off. He was once a demon slayer touted as one of the best of all time, only behind his brother Yoriichi. After spending all his life envious of his brother’s power and talent, he trained hard enough to mimic his brother’s Sun breathing technique and named his Moon breathing, he also managed to activate the demon slayer mark his brother was born with.
After activating it, he became worried about the curse that came with it, one which condemns alldemon slayers who activate said markto death before the age of twenty-five. He turned to Muzan, who offered him a chance at immortality in exchange, he became a demon and swore his loyalty to him.
3Nezuko’s Adult and Child Form
Though viewers may think about this a lot, there’s not much of a mystery here. Nezuko, like all other high-level demons, can manipulate their body parts, some can even take it further and make weapons from it. She received a high amount of Muzan’s blood and uses sleep as a source of sustenance rather than consuming human flesh; she once slept for 2 years straight.
She changes to a child to save energy when she is awake. When it’s time to go all out; she grows bigger and stronger, becomes more fast and furious, and ages physically. She gains regeneration on parwith the Upper Moon demons, and this is proven when she easily overwhelmed Daki in their fight.
2The Kamado Bloodline
Not much is known about the Kamado bloodline so far, but Yoriichi Tsugukuni reportedly saved and befriended one of the ancestors of the clan andtaught him Sun breathing. Yoriichi also bestowed his Hanafuda earrings to him, yes, the same earrings Tanjiro now dons. Since then, Sun breathing and the Hanafuda earrings have been passed down from one generation to the next.

Sun breathing was taught in the form of a ceremonial dance offered to the Fire God called Hinokami Kagura, which was done at the beginning of every year. After Tanjiro witnessed Yoriichi performing Sun breathing through the memories of his ancestor, he deduced that Hinokami Kagura was less efficient as it featured some unnecessary movements.
1How To Kill Hantengu
All of Tanjiro’s current efforts to kill Hantengu end up in Hantengu manifesting another clone from his main body. The clones regenerate infinitelyand have unique abilities and weapons, which makes it arduous for the demon slayers to keep up. To defeat Hantengu, the demon slayers must find his real body while they try to hold off his very annoying clones, which is not an easy task by any means.
Tanjiro activates his demon slayer mark once again during this battle. After the combined form of all the clones named Zohakuten gets beheaded, Tanjiro chases after the headless body that tries to escape. He uses the “Transparent World” ability to detect the real body of Hantengu inside the heart of Zohakuten and slashes him, finally killing him.
