One of the most frustrating things that the new decade has brought the world of gaming is numerous delays. And though we hope that these delays mean that the final product will be the best possible game that the developers could make, we have to admit that we are a little disappointed that highly anticipated titles have been pushed back.Final Fantasy VIIRemake andCyberpunk 2077have received delays, it should also be comforting knowing that this extra production time will make these two, and the others so far, better experiences. That is the hope at least.

Delays aside, let’s look down the list of games that haven’t been delayed yet. Some of these sequels look amazing while others look like they may be in some hot water. Maybe a delay (in order to sort out the bugs) might be in order!
Note: at the time that this article was written,The Last Of Us Part IIis the only game on the list with a definitive release date.
10Excited: The Last of Us Part II
The Last of Us Part IIis set to release on May 29 for PS4. It has been delayed once, but hopefully, it doesn’t happen again. If the second game is anything like the first, this will surely be the swan song for the PS4.
It could also be a definite Game of the Year contender for 2020. The tech looks amazing and the gameplay looks as solid as ever.
9Worried: Halo Infinite
Halo Infinitejust has a tentative 2020 release date with Microsoft promising it will launch with the Xbox Series X along with the PC and Xbox One versions. Since that is due out this fall, one can predict this as an October, or November game right now.

Halohasn’t been in a great place this generation. The name just isn’t what it used to be thanks to other first-person experiences taking its place as the dominant console leader likeCall of DutyandDestiny. Will this be any different?
8Excited: Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Yakuza: Like a Dragonis actually already out in Japan for PS4 with no final date for the West, but it is officially getting localized for 2020. It could be a great summer game based on past releases. Even though this is the seventh mainline title, it’s also a reboot in many ways.
There is a new protagonist and cast of allies, but the biggest change is the ditching of the brawler combat. It’s now a turn-based RPG, which sounds like a weird step for the franchise, but maybe now is the time to let go and be open to new experiences.
7Worried: Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise
Deadly Premonition 2is slated to be released on an unknown date in 2020. The full list of platforms on which it will be available also have not been announced yet, but it will at least be onSwitch. The first game was like lightning in a bottle.
While the gameplay and graphics were terrible, everything else about it was so quirky and charming that every single negative aspect melted away. It was a truly unique gaming experience that won over fans. Can the lightning be captured twice, or will it be too in on its own jokes and ruin the experience?
6Excited: No More Heroes III
No More Heroes IIImight make the 2020 release deadline, but as Travis himself jokes in the trailer from last year’s Game Awards, it might not achieve such an ambitious goal. The exact quote is, “2020 release?” Ha, good luck!” Cheeky as always, but hopefully it’s just that, a joke.
The spinoff,Travis Strikes Again, was worrisome in that one might have thought an awful game like that would have spelled doom for the franchise. Apparently not because this is shaping up to be just as weird as the first two. The faith has been restored.
5Worried: Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2is another undated release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s also set to come to next-gen platforms as well. Despite the original game was well-received, fans have been a bit hesitant towards the sequel.

Well, for one thing, it was shown at E3 2018, which isn’t a long time to wait relatively, but after that presentation, it doesn’t seem to have had as much power in the press. The choice system, as they are selling it, seems great, but perhaps too ambitious which may be causing the long development cycle.
4Excited: Axiom Verge 2
Axiom Verge 2will debut first on Switch in 2020 and will come to other platformers, all of which haven’t been outlined yet. One can expect the current generation and PCs most likely though. The first game launched in 2015 so it has been a long time coming.
We won’t hold this against the games because it’s to be expected as only one guy, Thomas Happ, primarily developed the first. Creating another Metroidvania masterpiece takes time.
3Worried: The Dark Pictures: Little Hope
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hopeis the second chapter in this horror anthology series. Early looks at the game make it appear as though it wants to beSilent Hillclone. And though we do love this game, players are thirsting for something unique from this sequel.
It is also important to note that the original release did have some problems such as technical glitches and a story that was full ofplot holes. Hopefully, all of those kinks can be worked out for this, but we aren’t getting our hopes up for this one.
2Excited: Psychonauts 2
Psychonauts 2entered crowdfunding in 2015. While it has been a considerable time since this sequel was originally announced, we are still on the edge of our seats. Can a game that long in the making ever live up to the expectations of fans?
With Microsoft’s resources, Double Fine should be able to produce something beyond their wildest imaginations. That is the hope for the fans of the series.
1Worried: Streets of Rage 4
Speaking of long waits for sequels, the last game in this series,Streets of Rage 3, was a 1994 Sega Genesis release. Other than re-released, that has been it! Reviving old-school games rarely pay out.Double Dragon IV, for example, blew chunks.
There are good examples though likeShovel Knight, which isn’t a revival, but more like an homage. While the art style does look truly impressive, there are some fans that do worry thatStreets of Rage 4may end up being not as good as nostalgia makes it seem.
