There’s a lot of fun to be had in the game, but adding new stuff is always an exciting thrill as players try their best to experience all the new content at once. Valentine’s Day
With a game that features marriage and encourages finding a sweetheart to settle down with, it’s hard to imagine that there isn’t already Valentine’s Day in the game. While there are holidays that are barred by how many hearts players have with their loved one in the form ofthe Flower Dance inStardew Valley, there aren’t holidays that flat out give players the chance to gift and romance a character.
While these are things players can do on their own throughout the year, a holiday that gives players a leg up in romancing their desired partner could be a big deal. If this was placed in Spring and gave players the chance to try and squeeze in some more hearts before the Flower Dance, that would be perfect. Of course, it shouldn’t be a free heart, and instead something that players who’ve already made progress with their desiredStardew Valleymarriage candidatecan use to their advantage.
Yoba Day
Though not everyone inStardew Valleyis religious, there are those who would likely jump on the chance to celebrate Yoba. From journal entries inStardew Valley’s museumto dialogue from the residents, it’s clear that there is a solid religion built around Yoba, the Valley’s god. It would be entertaining to see those who don’t celebrate the holiday doing their own thing in the corner and give players the choice to tag along with them instead of focusing on the religious aspects of the holiday.
It would be fun for players to celebrate in the Summer to be a subtle nod towards the museum book about Yoba. It says that the world had grown in his hands after 11 days, and that after peeling the skin, Yoba saw the earth. This description seems reminiscent of a tomato, one of Summer’s crops. If this was included, it could be a funeaster egg inStardew Valleyfor fans to enjoy.
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a holiday that some fans may not have considered since it would be similar toStardew Valley’s Luau, but it wouldn’t be such a bad idea. It would get the town together to talk about things they’ve been thankful for this year. It would be fun to see different dialogue or random dialogues during this time to spice up what each villager was doing this year and add flavor. It could also be cute to let the player talk about things they did during the year, with a multiple choice option for their turn to give thanks during the feast.
