The player should pay attention to Atreus' abilities, weapons, and armors just as much as they do Kratos'. If both characters are strong and powerful, playing the game is much more enjoyable.
8Not Going Through The Side Missions
InGod of War,there are a handful of side missions the players can do. However, it is completely possible to finish the game without trouble by just going through the main missions alone. But this will also make the players miss a lot of items that will make their playthrough better.

Like the previousGod of Wargames, thesoft rebootalso offers players a wide array of items they can use in the game. While there are only two weapons Kratos can use, the game makes up for it by offering a ton of armor sets, runes, enchantments, and more.
With this in mind, the player won’t be able to use all of them effectively. Only a number of them will ever become useful in a playthrough. To be more efficient in the game, the player can sell the items they don’t need instead of letting them sit in their inventory.
6Not Reading The Bestiary
Every time Kratos and Atreus encounter an enemy for the first time, Atreus will jot down pieces of information about them. The players can find these notes in the bestiary. The bestiary menu is the game’s way of letting the players know how to handle the enemies that are scattered around the world.
Some enemies are trickier to handle than others. To get rid of an enemy in the best and most efficient way possible, look for hints in the bestiary.
5Not Knowing When And When Not To Use A Weapon
InGod of War,Kratos can only use two different weapons: The Leviathan Axe and The Blades of Chaos. Aside from offering different fighting styles and abilities, each of these weapons will also work better on a specific type of enemy and situation.
As taught in the game, the Blades of Chaos works best against Hel-Walkers. On top of that, this weapon also works better against hordes while the Leviathan Axe is good against one-on-ones.
4Not Using Parry
Aside from blocking and dodging, the player should also master parrying in order to fully enjoy the game’s gameplay mechanics. There are a handful of incredibly tough enemies inGod of War,and a few of them can be beaten easily if the player knows how to time parry correctly.

With that in mind, the player should master knowing when to dodge, when to block, and when to parry. It may sound tedious on paper, but once they get used to the principle, it’ll come to them naturally, like muscle memory.

One interesting aspect about the Axe Throw is that it doesn’t only damage enemies when you target and throw it to them, but it will also hit and damage enemies on their way back to Kratos. The player should use this ability whenever they can and the gameplay will be much more enjoyable.
2Not Using Enchantments And Runes
InGod of War,there are a handful of runes and enchantments for Kratos and Atreus to utilize in combat. Skipping out on these is a big mistake as it won’t allow the two to reach their maximum potential.
Besides, a lot of these enchantments and runes not only make them more powerful but also give them abilities that are extremely stylish and awesome to behold. For example, one enchantment will slow down time for a couple of moments after performing a perfect dodge.
1Playing On Give Me God Of War On Their First Playthrough
The game’s Give Me God Of War difficulty is notorious for making the game one of the most difficult in history. This difficulty makes the game absurdly difficult, even if the player is used to challenging games.
To fully enjoy the game itself, the player should start with the normal difficulty. Once they complete the game the first time around, then they can take on the challenge of the Give Me God Of War difficulty.
