Harry Potterhas been around since 1997. It has been over two decades now, and there has yet to be a universally praised video game adaptation. The LEGO games are cute, but not great, and some of the portable RPGs were okay. The point is, that theleakedHarry Pottergamefrom last year looked interesting.

With E3 gone, when will Warner Bros. show it? Hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later. In the meantime, let’s go through the entire series and figure out what stories would best work out as video games. Maybe this will inspire them to make more. Hey, if that happens, all Game Rant wants is a shout in the credits. Thanks in advance Warner Bros.
10Post Voldemort
Harry Potter and the Cursed Childtakes place nineteen years after Harry and his friends defeated Lord Voldemort inThe Deathly Hallows. That is as far as the lore goes today.
This would be an easy place for a game to take place since there is only one book, which is basically just a stage play adaptation. There aren’t a lot of restrictions that is to say. Setting a game before this with Harry stopping other evil wizards in the aftermath of Voldemort would be amusing.
9Chrono Potter
The Time-Turner played a prominent role in the aforementioned stage adaptation along with allowing Hermione to take multiple classes inThe Prisoner of Azkaban.
This is all to say time travel exists in this universe, so why not create aChrono Triggerlike game wherein a set of characters get whisked away to multiple time periods? Time travel can be tricky to follow sensibly, but for games, it can get a little easier to plan out.
8Mahoutokoro
Mahoutokoro is the Japanese wizarding school as revealed by good old J.K. Rowling in 2016. Know what other giant Japanese RPG would work for Harry Potter?Persona. That series is all about balancing academics with social aspects with fighting evil.

Sound familiar? Since the location is the only thing known, setting a JRPG at Mahoutokoro would be pretty open. It would be even cooler if Atlus could make as sort of a crossover project. It might sound too lofty of an idea, but stranger things have happened.Just look atKingdom Hearts.
7The Order Of The Phoenix
Instead of going throughout time, or setting a game in the aftermath of Voldermort, they could instead place a game in the height of his power. That is to say, when theOrder Of The Phoenixwas first established.
For a video game to have combat, one must have enemies, and there would be no short supply in this time period leaving lots of room for lore exploration. It doesn’t even have to star big characters like Harry’s parents, or even take place in England. Voldemort’s clutches, after all, were far-reaching.
6The Founding Wizards
Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw were the four witches and wizards that founded Hogwarts. What recent game is all about houses at war?Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
The coloring scheme of the four founders is even colored similarly between red, blue, and yellow with Slytherin being the one outlier. This could also give the developers more room to work with as Hogwarts was established in 990 A.D. This could be theStar Wars: The Old Republicversion of this universe.
5PotterMon
Let’s move away from witches and wizards and instead talk about the beasties. Now, there is already a monster-catching clone toPokémon GOakaWizards Unite, which is okay, but does not compare. What about a truePokémonclone with Newt Scamander standing in as a professor.

He could take on new researchers who are just stand-ins for Pokémon trainers? It would also be great to cut out the middleman and just have Nintendo and Game Freak make it.Pokémon Conquestdid happen after all, and that crossover was even stranger.
4The Scamander: Wild Hunt
Another alternative that would involve Mr. Scamander would be a lot more lethal. What if there was a game set in a vast, open-world wherein he was tasked with capturing a handful of giant critters on the loose? Picturing it yet?
The subtitle to this entry should give it away, but imagine what a game inspired byThe Witcher 3would be like. It definitely wouldn’t be a cute Pokémon clone; that’s for sure.
3How To Train Your Dragon
Rather than making a game focussing on multiple monsters what about focusing on just one? That is to say, dragons are pretty cool. Dragonologists have always been a point of interest for fans.
Charlie Weasley, one of Ron’s older brothers, was one so this could take place in-between the books. Maybe players can create a random character with Charlie showing them the ropes.
2The Triwizard Tournament
This doesn’t necessarily have to be a game steeped in lore. It could be an easy mini-game collection likeMario Party. Pick a school and compete in various activities in the hopes of bringing honor to said school.
If done right, it could be tremendous fun for the whole family.Mario Partydoesn’t win awards, but it does win smiles and bring in the bucks. Learn from that Warner Bros.
1Quidditch Through The Ages
That is actually the title of another spinoff book, which goes through various historical matches involving Quidditch. This game could attempt to recreate those events, or it could focus on just being theMadden NFLequivalent of Quidditch.
Weird sports like this are best played and realized in a video game. There was an attempt at this during the PS2 generation of consoles, which was met with poor reception. In a world whereRocket Leagueis king, it’s time for Quidditch to make a comeback.
